Yanshan County is named after the Yanshan Mountain located eighty miles southeast of the county. was established in Gaocheng County in the Han Dynasty, and was changed to Yanshan County in the 18th year of Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (598 AD).

The temple as a whole faces south, with an inverted "L" shape in plan, and is divided into three areas: the main hall area, Guanyin Square, and Reclining Buddha Square. There are also four pagodas.

On the left side of the lotus seat are the Guanyin Hall and the Pagoda, and on the right side are the Pilu Hall, the Ksitigarbha Hall and the Patriarch Hall.

Reclining Buddha Square is on the east side of Guanyin Square. There is the Reclining Buddha Hall, the Life Release Pool, the Zhaitang and three pagodas. The dormitories surround the Reclining Buddha Hall.
