This is a set of old photos taken in Yangcheng, Shanxi Province in 1914. The photo was taken by American geologist Fidek Clap. In 1913, Klap was hired by Mobil Petroleum Company to conduct geological inspections. The inspection team was led by Klap from Beijing, via Zhili, Zhangjiakou, , Huaian, and then from Shanxi to Shaanxi, and finally went to Wuhan via Henan, and then took a boat to Shanghai and turned back to Tianjin. During the long investigation, in addition to geological exploration, Clap also took many photos of scenery and people's lives along the way, which left us with many precious image materials. are several photos taken by Clap when he passed by Yangcheng, Shanxi. Yangcheng was called Huoze . It is located at the southeast end of Shanxi. Yangcheng has a long history and outstanding people. According to legend, many ancient legends such as "Shun farms in Lishan and fishes in Huoze" and " Shang Tang Mulberry Forest Rain" were left behind. During the reign of Yongzheng, Yangcheng, Shaanxi Hancheng and Anhui Tongcheng were both culturally developed towns. The five counties under Zezhou Prefecture had the highest Chinese style, and won the reputation of "ranking in three cities and being high in five genera".

1914, the hillsides along the river were reclaimed into layers of terraced fields. Luwei River is located in the northern part of Yangcheng County, with a total length of 50 kilometers. It belongs to the same water system as Qin River and Huoze River. The Reed River flowed day and night back then, nourishing the ancestors of Yangcheng people.

1914 in Yangcheng, Runcheng Ancient Town Qinduli, Runcheng Ancient Town is a long-standing cultural town, historical town and commercial town. As the most prosperous town in Yangcheng, Runcheng Ancient Town once had three ancient castles, namely Tuncheng, Liushancheng and Dilicheng . The first two are only ruins left, and only Dilicheng is still firm. Runcheng Ancient Town is also a famous attraction. The "Qindu Bianzhou", one of the eight scenic spots in Guyang City, is a highly concentrated view of the scenery along the Qin River in the ancient town.

1914, the scenery on both sides of the Qin River. Qinhe is the second largest river in Shanxi after Fenhe . It flows through Yangcheng County, nourishes and irrigates the farmlands of Yangcheng for thousands of years, and also nurtures Yangcheng people who have lived here for generations.

1914, there was a thick and vast loess high slope in Yangcheng. Loess high slope topographic features are traversing gullies, and mountains, broken valleys and basins are distributed intersectingly. The terrain is very undulating, and looks fragmented and extremely uneven from a distance.
