Lao Zhan Xiaobian’s note:

Today, reprint Deng Wei an article.

Deng Wei, former director of the Photography Department of Economic Daily, former vice chairman of the Chinese Photographers Association.

You all understand at a glance that this is a photography expert!

That’s right, in the Chinese photography industry, almost everyone knows about Deng Wei’s name.

However, like Old Zhan, Deng Wei has long retired and gradually faded out of people's sight.

is like Lao Zhan. He is unwilling to be lonely and likes to record his past in words.

Leave memories for himself and for friends.

Today’s article tells the story of Deng Wei interviewing Bayinbrook 31 years ago.

What impressed people was the lonely grave in the deep mountains,

The lonely grave of a hydropower explorer who was sleeping here for a long time (see Figure 2).

Standing in front of this lonely grave with white bones scattered all over the ground, everyone's mood cannot be calm for a long time!

At the beginning of this, a kind of sadness that is hard to describe arises in our hearts...

Barinbrook

Deng Wei Deng Wei's viewpoint

11991 In the early autumn of 11991, I followed an interview with a delegation of domestic front-line water conservancy and hydropower experts to arrive at Bayinbrook, surrounded by mountains on the southern foot of Tianshan Mountain in Xinjiang. The goal of the front-line expert inspection team is to travel all over the country, and to find and provide practical and sustainable water, electric and kinetic energy blueprints for the serious electricity shortage caused by the rapid economic development after the reform and opening up.

Compared with oil, coal, etc., the energy with increasing production costs, severely polluting the environment and non-renewable energy, the world-recognized renewable "clean" kinetic hydropower generation has long been given priority in developed countries to make full use of the goods. Due to the national strength at that time, the development and utilization of water energy resources were far from the development needs of the national economy, and the gap was huge.

1989, I also followed the delegation to investigate the mountain valleys of the famous Jinsha River , Lancang River and Nujiang " Three Rivers flowing together ". Later in the trip, I came to a megacity in the southwest, where the power supply situation was very inconsistent with the size of the city. The local area arranged the inspection team to stay in a newly opened hotel. It was less than 8 o'clock in the evening, and the city area where the hotel was located was shut down due to shortage of power supply. In each room of the brand new hotel, you have to light candles, flashing, as if you inform these domestic front-line water conservancy and hydropower experts that power shortage has become a bottleneck that seriously restricts the economic development of various places.

The economic scale of Xinjiang was not large at that time, but the power shortage was also extremely serious. It was urgent to develop and utilize clean energy and significantly improve power generation capacity. Therefore, the delegation was invited to Bayinbrook -

(pictured above) and rushing through the mountains and ridges. After nearly 12 hours of crossing the snow-capped mountains, the sun sets and we arrived at the Kaidu River of Bayinbrook, known as the "Nine Bends and Eighteen Bends".

Bayinbrook Turkic means "Star Plain", Mongolian means "never-depleted sweet spring". The grassland here is the second largest grassland in China and the largest alpine grassland in my country. Bayinbrook Grassland is located in the mountain basin in the uplift zone of Tianshan . It is a natural area integrating mountains, basins and grasslands. Grassland water supply mainly mixes ice and snow dissolved water and rainfall, and groundwater supply is available in some areas, forming a large number of swamp grasslands and lakes. The Bayinbrook Grassland has 13 springs, 7 lakes, and 20 rivers.

You must have read "Journey to the West", where Kaiduhe also has a name of fairy spirit - Tongtianhe .Today, the Bayinbrook Swan Lake Reserve is located in the alpine basin in the upper reaches of the river. The tailbone of the river is China's largest inland freshwater lake - Bosten Lake . Deng Wei's photography

(above) In the early 1990s, transportation was extremely inconvenient. Bayinbrook was far less lively than today and was rarely visited. It started to snow heavily shortly after we arrived last night. In August, I was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, and the contrast was beautiful. Early the next morning, water conservancy and hydropower experts took more than ten off-road vehicles to the mountain valley to conduct on-site investigation and demonstration of the water resources here. At noon, the temperature rose sharply to 26 degrees Celsius, and everyone was sweating profusely.

Off-road vehicle continued to rush in the mountains without roads, and suddenly I saw a lonely grave next to the car that seemed to have been destroyed. I am a reporter. How could there be a sudden lonely grave in this deserted valley with no roads? I asked the driver to stop the car and ran over to check it out with two water conservancy and hydropower experts in the same car.

The words on the tombstone are mottled and difficult to distinguish. They should be the lonely grave of a hydropower explorer who had been sleeping here many years ago. The tomb was obviously dug up by wild beasts in the mountains, and white bones were scattered all over the ground. I asked the water and electricity experts in the same car, what is going on? She said that most of the large and brilliant hydropower stations are built in low-court deep mountain canyons, and the arduous exploration and design in the early stages of the project range from a few years to decades. What people usually see is that when large-scale water conservancy and hydropower projects are completed, firecrackers are ringing, and leaders are cutting ribbons, and everyone is happy. Few people know that in the early stage of the project, several teams of surveying and exploration personnel were rushing around in the quiet mountains and valleys of the world year after year, providing a basic basis for large power plants in the future. During this period, he died of work or illness. The weak team was unable to climb over the deep mountains and valleys to bring his (her) body back to the mainland. He could only "bury loyal bones everywhere in the green mountains."

tells me about the hydropower design expert in her 50s in the same car. She once dedicated her youth to hydropower construction survey in the mountains and ridges of the southwest and northwest of the motherland. Several of us silently gathered the bones and put them into the tomb pit, built the tomb with stones and soil, and re-established the mottled tombstone. At this time, the female expert finally cried and lost her voice...

On the way back, no one spoke in the car, and nothing was said along the way... Deng Wei Photography

(above) The next day, the experts continued to cross mountains and rivers for investigation. Their assistants were young doctoral students and graduate students in the major of water conservancy and hydropower. They all climbed up and down, and conducted on-site investigations conscientiously. It can be seen that this is an industry that silently builds, providing electricity, kinetic energy and light to society. They are used to turning around and rushing to the next deep mountain canyon once the water conservancy and hydropower facilities are delivered and used to explore and design the next project. No one will pay attention to them. If you choose this profession, you will choose to move forward silently under the shadow of lightning.

Bayinbrook is now a well-known tourist check-in place. The Kaidu River with "nine curves and eighteen bends", the pearl-like Swan Lake in the alpine basin, and the vast alpine grassland and pasture are indeed beautiful. However, as soon as Bayinbrook appears on TV and video, what flashes in my mind is the lonely tomb in the remote mountains and valleys that are unavailable. Deng Wei Photography
