Yangon Bamboo Playground, Myanmar,A new entertainment space for children
The bamboo playground has two different functions. On the one hand, the school playground has become a interactive and fun activity place , the ribbon-like structure extends from the floor to the roof, and children can play on the top, around and bottom of it. On the other hand, the original site is an unused informal public space in the city; over time, the above-ground water pipe becomes a sidewalk; it provides safe and beautiful lighting at night, and at the same time it serves as a landmark, like a sculpture Standing in the landscape creates a sense of place.

The space we designated was actually a garbage dump behind the school bathroom, so we had to spend a whole week to dispose of the garbage. We optimized the school’s limited entertainment space by transforming the school’s most problematic site into the children’s favorite space.

Duncan & Grove designed and built this large custom playground. The design team produced detailed 3D models and consulted engineers, building consultants, game inspectors and archaeologists to ensure that the game castle is structured properly and complies with building regulations so that children can play safely.
