I have to say that the rate of caesarean section is really too high now. When my family had their first child, everything was normal during the examination, and they were preparing for a natural delivery. However, when the delivery date was approaching, after the examination, they were told that the fetal position was not correct, and a caesarean section was needed. I have never been able to figure out what the problem is. It was fine before but changed just after giving birth.

The proportion of caesarean section is different in different regions or in different hospitals in the same region. The proportion of caesarean section is one of the criteria for evaluating obstetrics.
Generally speaking, rural areas have higher rates than cities. Underdeveloped cities have higher rates than developed cities. In the same city, hospitals with weak comprehensive capabilities have higher rates than hospitals with strong comprehensive capabilities.
The ratio of normal delivery to cesarean section in the best hospitals is 8:2 or 7:3, with most being 5:5 or 6:4. The highest ratio of normal delivery to cesarean section is 3:7. In recent years, with the increase in the proportion of cesarean section, complications are increasingly appearing. Therefore, we currently advocate natural delivery, prohibit unindicated cesarean section, especially the first cesarean section, strictly manage the labor process, reduce the occurrence of head-position dystocia, and try to avoid second stage of labor cesarean section.
The World Health Organization stipulates that the proportion of caesarean sections cannot be higher than 15%. Obviously, the proportion of caesarean sections in our country is relatively high.
According to The Lancet : Global caesarean section use has doubled since 2000.
National data and statements: Globally, 21% of women have a caesarean section, which is 10-15 times higher than the rate of caesarean section for medical purposes. Cesarean sections are overused in 60% of countries.
Between 2000 and 2015, the number of babies born by caesarean section increased from 12% to 21% globally.
So why have caesarean sections increased so rapidly in recent years?
1. First of all, the hospital wants to make a profit. The hospital’s profit from surgery is much higher than that from normal delivery. Therefore, some medical institutions, driven by profits, will induce caesarean sections.
2. With the improvement of economic and living standards, people's nutrition has become more and more comprehensive, resulting in larger babies. According to statistics, the proportion of babies who are too large and have to be delivered by caesarean section is 5%-10%.
3. The age at which children are born continues to rise, which has also led to an increase in the number of older mothers. For the sake of safety, they have to choose caesarean section.
So what are the disadvantages of caesarean section? In fact, compared with natural childbirth, the baby is not squeezed and does not have the first death gate in life. It has been confirmed that the incidence of pneumonia is 2.6 times that of natural childbirth. The lungs of babies born naturally can be exercised to promote lung maturity. Natural childbirth is also conducive to the formation of the baby's resistance, which is of great help to future sports and healthy development.
