Chen Junlong, a foreign academician of the European Academy of Sciences: Meizhou can combine its own advantages to develop smart homes and smart medical care

Today (16th), the 2020 2nd Meizhou Internet Conference was held in Xingning, Meizhou. During the conference, Chen Junlong, a distinguished chair professor of South China University of Technology, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Automation, a foreign academician of the European Academy of Sciences, and an academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, was interviewed by reporters. Chen Junlong believes that Meizhou can develop the Internet economy in the field of smart home and smart medical care.

The following is the transcript of the interview:

Q: In combination with the actual situation in Meizhou, which area of the Internet industry do you think is more practical to land in Meizhou?

Chen Junlong: I think Meizhou can make efforts in the livelihood of smart homes and smart medical care. Because people live longer and longer, smart home and smart medicine industries have become very important.

So, how can we use digital economy and artificial intelligence technology to serve the home and health industries?

For example, providing services for the elderly is a very important aspect of smart medical care. When people are old, many diseases will accompany us. We can develop remote consultations and think about how to promote smart home care in the community.

also has smart homes, and I put forward a lot of directions in the report. For Meizhou, it can be explored from the perspective of light industry to produce and design smart home components.

Q: What are your suggestions for the overall development of the Internet in Meizhou in the future?

Chen Junlong: Meizhou has held the second Internet Industry Conference so far, and the development results have been good today. Judging from today's signing ceremony, 5G communications and cloud platform design have already made progress in Meizhou. It can be said that Meizhou is on the right path of Internet development.

It is impossible for Meizhou to be developed into a large-scale manufacturing industry to deploy the Internet industry like Guangzhou or Foshan. Meizhou can combine its positioning as an ecological function zone in northern Guangdong and form a complementary pattern with Guangzhou and Foshan. For example, new infrastructure industries can be developed, or industries such as smart home and smart medical care can be developed.

Q: What preparations do young people need to make before starting a business?

Chen Junlong: The Internet industry is all-encompassing and closely related to our daily lives. Nowadays, many young people are trying to get in touch with the Internet industry, and many of them are not computer professionals. I think that in order to start a business in the Internet industry, we must first learn some basic computer science basic courses and understand computers.

Through my observation of my students, I believe that entrepreneurship must first find the right direction, grasp the frontier direction, and stand in the forefront of the development of the times. Many of my students, after graduation, went to work in large companies, learned technology, understood industry information, and started their own businesses and did a good job. Secondly, financial support is also a very important factor. We must plan for development.

The current construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has given young people many opportunities. I think it will be an era in which the digital economy supports the development of the real economy, relying on the digital economy to serve the real economy such as manufacturing. The digital economy will be an important development direction.
