Amazon continues to introduce new regulations to tighten, and this year it seems to be particularly overwhelming for third-party sellers. In addition to the increase in direct overhead costs in all aspects, it is required that products with CR standard must have EU person in charge. In September, the seller's monthly income of US station stores exceeds US$10,000 and will purchase Amazon product liability insurance.
Recently, Amazon notified again that if the seller does not meet the EPR requirements, he will face the risk of being removed from the shelves and suspended sales. Amazon's policies are tightening and compliance is becoming increasingly important.
Currently, some Amazon sellers on French sites have received relevant emails. Sellers need to know about French EPR payments. If you don’t pay, Amazon will start paying on your behalf. Not only will you pay the bill for your French EPR, but it will also start to increase service fees soon.
If the seller sells goods related to the Producer Extension Responsibility (EPR) to buyers with shipping address in France on Amazon, but does not register with the corresponding Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO), nor provides Amazon with the EPR registration number (UIN) corresponding to those products that are valid, it will be deemed to be in compliance with French EPR regulations.
In France, the law requires Amazon to check whether the seller complies with the EPR obligation by collecting valid UINs of the seller's products sold on Amazon France. As of 2022, this applies to 15 product categories, and new categories may also be launched in the coming years. Next, Eagle Bear Collection briefly introduces the key information.
What do you need to do if the seller already has an EPR registration number?
If the seller already has an EPR registration number, it should be submitted on the Seller Center's compliance portal by December 31.
What happens if the seller does not provide an EPR registration number?
If the seller does not provide your EPR registration number, Amazon will pay and report the ecological contribution fee on behalf of the seller. This service is called payment on behalf of the seller.
The following is the working principle of payment:
1. Amazon will prepare the declaration report based on the detailed information of the selected qualified PRO requirements and send these reports to the PRO. These information include:
The quantity of sales for EPR, the unit quantity or weight of the product;
mandatory details, such as equipment type, refrigerator, baby clothing, chairs;
product attributes, such as packaging materials, furniture materials;
In order to prepare the report, Amazon will use the product information provided by the seller, or use the default content when there is no such information.
2. Amazon will submit reports for each applicable EPR category at the end of the PRO reporting cycle, which may be quarterly, semi-year or annual, depending on the PRO and EPR categories. Amazon will pay each PRO the applicable ecological contribution fee, which will later deduct the corresponding amount from the seller's account. What is the service fee for
payment service?
For sellers' sales on Amazon France during 2022, Amazon will pay an ecological contribution fee on behalf of the sellers without paying any additional service fees. But starting from 2023, an additional payment service fee will be charged for each category for sellers’ sales on Amazon France. I believe that in the future, Amazon will issue notifications and update service fee information. If the seller does not have an EPR registration number, he or she can register with the PRO independently. If you need corresponding process support, you can refer to the rules and notifications issued by Amazon to register for the EPR service on Amazon.
