On December 3, the 2022 Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone Artificial Intelligence Competition and the 4th Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Robot Competition (hereinafter referred to as the "Cooperation Zone Artificial Intelligence Competition") officially kicked off. 5,213 contestants from 14 countries and regions participated in the competitive competition in the form of "online display + independent offline competition".

After hearing the instructions for the start of the first game, the contestants in the primary school group took a deep breath, used their slightly trembling hands to twitch the remote control, and directed the robots they built to grab the orange disc from the "tower" of varying difficulty and ejected into the scoring area. "At the beginning, we took the disc from the yellow tower and took the disc from the yellow tower in time. We changed our strategy in time and took the disc from the blue tower first, which saved time." Lin Laijia, a sixth-grade contestant in Hengqin No. 1 , concluded after the game.

Liu Xuanning from Qunxian Primary School in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City is also a confident "little contestant". He just entered the second grade this year and signed up to participate in the Xiaowei Artificial Intelligence Engineering Challenge. This project requires players to build and program and control the robot to pass through the map to complete tasks such as picking up bottles and transporting block materials. The content of the competition seems simple, but Liu Xuanning has been training for several days before the game. He said: "I hope to cooperate tacitly with his teammates. Our goal is to win the championship."

" The competition involves two aspects: programming and construction. Programming improves students' logical thinking ability and builds to cultivate students' spatial imagination and hands-on ability." Yue Saisei, a teacher at Hengqin First Primary School, introduced, "In addition, the competition requires team formation and team collaboration can also be trained for the team members. Ability. ”

According to Ye Jiesi, director of the Youth Science and Technology Education Association of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, this competition adopts the "online display + independent offline competition" mode, that is, in some challenges, the contestants will arrange their robot competition venues according to the competition standards and specifications, and during the competition, instructions will be issued to the robots under the recording of the live broadcast equipment; in addition, some creative display, programming challenges and other projects will be uploaded by the contestants to evaluate.

This year's competition will include 8 competition events, including EDR Robot Engineering Challenge, IQ Robot Engineering Challenge, BDS Robot Engineering Challenge, AI Skills Practice Competition, Drone Programming Level Competition, and four categories are set up: primary school group, junior high school group, high school group, and secondary vocational group. It is reported that this year, the event has set up AI screen-free programming for the first time around the young enlightenment stage, and more than 500 groups of families have signed up to participate in the competition.

This competition is themed "Science and Technology, Innovation, Cooperation, and Growth". It is sponsored by the Administrative Affairs Bureau of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, Zhuhai Municipal Education Bureau and Zhuhai Science and Technology Association , and co-organized by the Macau Education and Youth Development Bureau.

According to statistics from the event organizing committee, a total of 139 schools and units from 14 countries and regions registered for this competition, with more than 5,000 contestants, and the number of participants hit a new high. Among them, a total of 155 people from 7 schools and associations in Macau participated in the competition.

Macau Education and Youth Development Bureau stated that the event will help Macau youth connect with students from all over the world in Greater Bay Area to learn and improve programming technology. Through this competition platform, it also enhances the sense of participation of Macau youth in communication and interaction in the Greater Bay Area, and promotes in-depth exchanges and common progress among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao youth.

"Although the competition is transferred online due to the epidemic, we can see that young people are still enthusiastic about participating in the competition." Chen Liguang, Executive Secretary-General of the Youth Science and Technology Education Association of the Cooperation Zone, believes that competitive competitions with science and technology as the theme will help attract young people to pay attention to science, acquire skills, and improve their literacy in the process of exploration. "Through science and technology innovation competitions, drive the scientific and technological innovation atmosphere, and through the mutual reference and sharing of creativity between different contestants' works, young people's thinking will be quickly cultivated and improved." Since it was held in 2019, the

Cooperation Zone Artificial Intelligence Competition has become a brand of youth's characteristic science and technology innovation competition in the field of basic education in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and is an important platform for showing the style of young people's technological innovation and enhancing cultural exchanges among young people in Guangdong-Macao. At the same time, this year, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education has included this competition in the "whitelist" event held for primary and secondary schools across the province from 2022 to 2025, and the scale of the event has been further improved.
