Recently, Viber and Snap both released a series of AR filters and interactive experience packages to celebrate the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Since the two applications joined forces on AR technology last summer, events like this are often held for both companies at the same time, ensuring users on both platforms have access to high-quality AR content. But AR content on both platforms will never be exactly the same.
Viber
Rakuten Viber is an instant messaging software that added support for AR effects and other graphics through its collaboration with Snap last year. Viber users can access the theme framework for holiday photos, as well as track game scores and other features. Users can also enhance photos using World Cup sticker packs in English and other eighteen languages.
Viber also created a series of gamified shots that allow users to score goals with virtual balls, cheer for their favorite teams, or use football to fly around their heads to create their own short videos.
In addition, Rakuten has a channel dedicated to gaming, as well as a football fan AI chatbot that users can interact with during and around large matches. “We are excited to offer users many different rewards and interactive content, sharing your predictions, finding out the scores of the latest games or viewing global rankings will be as simple as opening a Viber app,” said Atanas Raykov, Senior Director of Top Markets for Growth at
Viber. “
Snap
Snap Like Rakuten Viber, they have both AR experiences and graphic and 3D content throughout other departments of their application services.
Snap’s AR products include official and “organic” lenses and AR filters representing 13 national teams around the world, as well as the World Cup-themed Snapcaht Cameos feature.
"Live Garment Transfe" lens also allows official team kits from five teams (US, France, Saudi Arabia , Belgian and Qatar ) to perform AR trials. The activation also marks the tool's availability for Lens creators after the last few months of in-house development.
In addition, Snap also offers World Cup themed content on Spotlight and Discover, as well as official and organic stickers and Bitmoji clothing. “We are excited to be able to cover the largest global sporting event of the year on Snapchat, offering dedicated custom AR experiences and comprehensive content coverage that includes localized highlights for each game in more than 30 countries,” said Anmol Malhotra, head of sports partnerships at
Snap.
