[Focus] China’s first commercialized independent energy storage power station was put into operation in Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province

On November 5th, the country's first commercialized independent energy storage power station was put into operation in Golmud, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. This project is of great significance in promoting the consumption of renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaic power generation in the "Three North" area, improving the new energy industry chain, and focusing on building a national new energy demonstration city. As one of the new forms of energy development, the energy storage system can not only increase the low-valley power load, but also increase the peak power supply capacity. It is the most effective measure to solve the current problems in power operation. The project integrates Shanghai Electric's latest products and technologies in the fields of renewable energy and smart energy storage, using long-cycle life lithium iron phosphate energy storage batteries, with the lowest cost per kilowatt-hour during the entire life cycle of the system and high safety. In addition, the intelligent and efficient operation and maintenance system can implement real-time, reliable and optimal control methods for the power station.

It is reported that the construction scale of the first phase of the project is 32MW/64MWh. Through "shared" energy storage, it is organically integrated with the green energy interconnection and sharing platform of Qinghai Power Grid Corporation. The two sides have formed a linkage mechanism, which is invested and constructed by independent market entities in China and participates in market operation. The first shared energy storage power station has explored a new market-oriented operation model for the large-scale grid-connected energy storage power station on the grid side of Qinghai Province in the future.
