Google Voice has just improved the calling experience by introducing a number of customization options, including the ability to send anyone you don't want to talk to directly to voicemail.
With Google Voice Settings, create rules about how incoming calls are handled - whether that means directing your boss to a linked phone number or sending certain colleagues directly to voicemail. "These options allow you to route incoming calls in the way that's most efficient for your workflow and productivity, including granular settings for specific contacts," the Google Workspace update explains.
users also have the option to filter calls from specific people, set custom voicemail greetings for individual callers, and apply rules to all contacts or specific groups.
To take advantage of the new feature, navigate to Settings Calls Custom Call Forwarding to start making changes. Search for a name or scroll through your list and select the people you want the rule to apply to—all contacts, starred contacts, colleagues, family, neighbors, friends, anonymous callers, and more.
From there, when these people call you, it's up to you whether they are automatically forwarded or ignored. Based on that decision, you can choose which number to ring, a specific voicemail greeting, and whether to block the call. (Call screening announces the caller's name and lets you answer or send them to voicemail.) View, create, edit, or delete personal rules at any time.
