Huawei announced yesterday that it would join ITU's Partner2Connect Digital Alliance, promising to provide the capacity to connect to the digital society to approximately 120 million remote populations in more than 80 countries around the world by 2025.
Huawei Chairman Liang Hua announced this decision at 2022 Sustainability Forum . Data shows that one-third of the world's population still cannot access the Internet.
Take the construction of fiber broadband network as an example. Huawei said that it has laid more than 250,000 kilometers of fiber in Africa. The rapidly deployed all-optical infrastructure has helped 30 million families achieve high-speed broadband access, and the user experience has been continuously improved. The average rate of home broadband has exceeded 30Mbps.
Huawei announced earlier that in 2025, with the improvement of ICT infrastructure, Huawei will enable 500 million people to enjoy digital financial services and 500,000 people to enjoy inclusive education through the efforts of its partners.
Huawei further promises that in ITU, the first P2C partner country, Cambodia , will cooperate with government departments such as the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and universities to provide 10,000 training opportunities for ICT professionals in the next five years.
