open source game engine project Godot announced the establishment of its own foundation. Godot game engine complies with the MIT open source protocol and supports the production of 2D and 3D games. The editor can run on Windows, Mac OS and Linux systems, and supports exporting games to Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android, iOS, UWP and html5 and other platforms.
Godot was previously affiliated with Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) to handle sponsorship-related matters. Now Godot registers the Godot Foundation in Netherlands . The foundation will provide financial support for the future development of game engines. Godot says that as the project scale expands, it makes more sense to have control, independence and flexibility to manage organizations that only focus on Godot.
