As the overlord of technology, in the past few decades, the United States has repeatedly suppressed companies in other countries through technological hegemony, such as Alstom, Toshiba , etc., all lost the market's voice due to the US sanctions, and was greatly damaged, either admitting defeat, compromise or closing down. The ending is sad.
In recent years, Chinese technology companies have developed rapidly, especially in the 5G field. Huawei emerged, grasping the voice of the 5G market, and breaking the monopoly of European and American companies in the past decades. Huawei, which moved the "cake" of the United States, was not spared and was sanctioned by the United States. By modifying the chip rules, the United States "bottles the neck" of Huawei.
It is undeniable that the United States has obvious advantages in the chip field, which has also caused great obstacles to Huawei's development. But Huawei's bones are too hard. Not only has it not been defeated, it has stimulated the "competitiveness" of domestic technology companies. More and more technology companies have begun to focus on the chip industry, increase investment in technology research and development, and "de-beautification" is forced to speed up, which is something the United States did not expect.
After nearly two years of hard work, domestic chips have made good progress. It is reported that as of the first half of this year, the number of domestic chip production has reached 190 billion, with an increase of about 15.3%. By the end of September, the number of chip imports of Chinese companies decreased by 60 billion, a decrease of 12.4%. On the one hand, the self-sufficiency rate of domestic chips has risen sharply. On the other hand, the sharp reduction in chip imports is enough to prove that China Chip is getting closer to achieving the goal of "reaching 70% self-sufficiency rate in 2025".
However, as Chinese technology companies' dependence on US chips declined, US chip giants could no longer sit still and "showdowns" one after another. After US companies such as AMD, Intel , Qualcomm and Nvidia admitted that it had "heavy losses", US equipment supply Panlin Group and US Applied Materials also made statements one after another.
Recently, executives of Panlin Group publicly emphasized that the Chinese market is very important, accounting for 30% of the company's total annual revenue. However, once the supply to China is restricted, the company will face losses of more than US$2.5 billion in 2023. US Applied Materials Company also stated that restricting supply to China will lead to a decrease in the company's revenue by more than US$600 million!
The successive statements of the US chip giants are dissatisfied with the US's restrictions on supply to China. Foreign media also commented on this - the "side effects" of suppressing Chinese companies. To be honest, in the context of global economic integration , attempting to gain market discourse power by suppressing Chinese companies is stupid. This is tantamount to "shooting one stone in the foot". Even if you can "injure one thousand enemies", you have to pay the price of "self-damaging eight hundred", which will eventually lead to the result of losing both sides.
As more and more American companies put pressure on them, the United States has also realized the seriousness of the problem, and export restrictions seem to show signs of easing. Some companies have obtained the "temporary immunity" granted by the United States and can supply goods to Chinese companies freely. Perhaps in the next step, some American companies will also be able to obtain "immunity".
Looking back, the reason why suppressing Huawei "failed" is because Chinese technology companies have not compromised, but have become more and more courageous. In the face of difficulties, we can still insist on independent research and development and always maintain the belief that "only we can have a way out if we have the core technology in our own hands." As Academician Ni Guangnan said, core technology cannot be obtained. Instead of surrendering to the United States, it is better to continue to strengthen yourself and insist on independent research and development. As long as you have excellent technology, you can "fight" peace! What do you think about this? Welcome to comment and leave a message!
