Touch ID will not return to
Starting from iPhone X in 2017, Face ID (face recognition) replaced Touch ID (fingerprint recognition) on iPhone. However, there are rumors that Apple has re-added Touch ID for iPhone from time to time. As a result, until this year's iPhone 14 series, there is still no sign of re-adding fingerprint recognition.
Now, a new report from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says that Apple has tested the under-screen Touch ID in recent years, but he expects Touch ID to return to the foreseeable future of the iPhone 15 or other flagship models .
Concept Design
Mark Gurman said: In the past few years, Apple has been discussing internally to bring Touch ID back to high-end iPhones. The company has tested the Touch ID in the screen and even considered putting it on the power button. But at this point, I believe Face ID will continue to exist and Touch ID will not return to flagship iPhones -- at least not for the foreseeable future.
under-screen fingerprint recognition technology is currently widely used in Android phones, and Apple has not launched a product that uses this technology. However, the current iPad Air and iPad mini are already using power buttons with integrated fingerprint recognition.
Mark Gurman believes that Apple can add Touch ID to the power keys of mid- and low-end iPhones, such as iPhone SE. But there is no news that Apple intends to do so.
The current Face ID face recognition is easy to use. The new models already support mask recognition, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 models support horizontal unlocking, which also has higher security than fingerprint recognition. However, in some cases, users may prefer to use Touch ID fingerprint recognition, such as unlocking the phone smoothly regardless of the lying position.
In addition, if Apple provides dual authentication methods for Touch ID + Face ID, it can also encrypt sensitive information at a higher level.

10 New Apple product
Today's Mark Gurman report also believes that Apple is developing new iPad Pro, Mac and Apple TV models, at least some of which will be released in October. It is worth noting that he reiterated last week's view that Apple will not hold a new product launch conference in October, but will instead use the form of a press release to directly publish information about the new product and put it on the online store.
Last week, Gurman reported that the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and the Mac mini models with M2 series chips are "very likely to be launched by the end of 2022." He also said the new Apple TV with the A14 chip and 4GB of memory is "becoming closer and may be launched this year."
Recently, users who plan to buy iPad Pro, 14/16-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini are recommended to wait for the new model to be released.
