In today's global era, it can be said that no manufacturer can survive, especially in the field of chip semiconductors, the industrial chains involved are all over the world. Even the 60% of the core technology behind the lithography machine giant ASML comes from the United States.
And my country has also ushered in unprecedented development in the past few decades, especially in the field of science and technology. But most industries are based on "imported technology", which implies that they rely too much on foreign core technologies and are obsessed with the general environment of "it is better to buy than to make, and it is better to rent than to buy". This has also led to the fact that the United States has been choked in all aspects today, curbing our progress and development.
To this day, the digital age of the Internet, chips can be said to be the "crystal of human society". The development of all walks of life cannot be separated from the existence of chips, so it is called "industrial food." The US also relies on its tough technology to master global technological hegemony, using this as a means to make money or even achieve certain goals.
The most obvious example is that the US suppresses Huawei . This is also because Huawei's 5G technology has already taken the lead, affecting the US's "making fortune". So much so that they openly smear Huawei and also win over other allies to boycott it. Even the chip rules have been revised many times and Huawei has been blocked in the field of chip semiconductors. All manufacturers involving American technology cannot cooperate with Huawei normally.
In fact, the relationship between China and the United States has always been the focus of attention of all sectors of society. As a major country that has been unique in the world since World War II , the United States has absolute strength and confidence to "dominate" around the world. However, in recent years, China has become a country with very rapid rise. In just 70 years since its founding, it has become the world's second largest economy, and of course it has also become the "major trouble" mentioned by the United States. Many people even believe that China will eventually become the world's largest economy.
However, today my country does lag behind foreign countries in the field of chip semiconductors. ASML lithography machines have reached the level of 3nm process processes, while my country's lithography machine giant Shanghai Microelectronics is still at the 90nm process process. Some experts also said: If my country wants to break through within 10nm, it will take at least ten or eight years, and it will not be able to catch up in the short term.
In the past, ASML obeyed the US command and even had to move its headquarters to the United States. But as time goes on, especially after entering 2022, ASML began to realize the problem, because after Huawei was suppressed by the US three rounds, it not only did not fall, but instead awakened many manufacturers to embark on the road of R&D. China Technology has also made a call to speed up the investment in lithography machines and achieve chip self-sufficiency rate of more than 70% by 2025 as much as possible.
At the same time, Huawei, Xiaomi , Alibaba and other manufacturers have also begun to continuously invest in domestic chip semiconductor manufacturers in order to build a 100% domestic supply chain as soon as possible. At this moment, ASML must be restless. Seeing China's rapid research and development in the field of chip semiconductors, and even this R&D momentum has "spread" to other countries. If this continues, ASML will not only lose its market, but may also be chased.
With the development of China's military strength and science and technology, China's position in the international community is getting higher and higher, and China's strong reputation is getting stronger and stronger. With the development of China, many countries have begun to gradually understand this ancient Eastern country. Different policies, different attitudes, and different cultures continue to attract outsiders, but at the same time, the fear of the West has evolved into a kind of fear.
We need to understand that the US side’s supply-cut EDA software has a GAAFET structure. To put it bluntly, it is an advanced process such as 2nm and 3nm. Currently, only TSMC and Samsung can develop in these fields. It can be seen that today not only TSMC cannot provide freely to mainland Chinese manufacturers, but even manufacturers such as Qualcomm , ASML, Google , ARM, etc. cannot ship freely, but also prohibit many allies from being unable to provide equipment and products to Huawei, trying to kill Huawei.Because my country's chip design level is still 5nm, the impact of the lockdown will not be highlighted until 2025. From the current perspective, the US is also preventing this step.
Perhaps many people do not understand the importance of chip design. Some time ago, the United States blocked my country's 3nm EDA design software. Behind this is the fear that we will break through advanced process chips in advance, so we will block them in advance at the design level. Chip design is equivalent to the "drawing" of building a house, while EDA software is equivalent to the "drawing software" in the hands of architects. So the Americans want to fundamentally stop "architects" from drawing pictures, thereby curbing the development of our chips.
But in today's era of globalization, the US's "blockade thinking" is no longer suitable. To put it bluntly, it means killing one thousand enemies and losing eight hundred of them. After all, as the world's largest consumer market, China has lost this big customer after American manufacturers are unable to ship freely.
Of course, Ren Zhengfei has long expected the US blockade. Because in today's era, the EDA market is monopolized by the three giants of Kaideng Electronics, Xinsi and Siemens , so Huawei's Hubble Investment began to invest in domestic semiconductor manufacturers very early on, trying to build a 100% domestic supply chain.
To put it bluntly, the repeated blockades of the United States are just forcing China to "go to Liangshan". As the saying goes, the greater the pressure, the greater the motivation. Moreover, the era of American hegemony has become a thing of the past, and China's rise has become an indisputable fact. As long as domestic manufacturers increase their efforts to invest in independent research and development, insist on innovation, and stick to the green mountains and never relax, they will be able to break through the difficulties and achieve true domesticization in the near future.
Then in the near future, we will definitely be able to break through the difficulties. At that time, China was not just one Huawei, but thousands of Huawei appeared on the world stage, holding high the banner of domestic products.
Of course, after the US blockade and containment, Chinese manufacturers may be hit hard in a short period of time. But from a long-term perspective, this is a great thing. On the one hand, it can awaken many domestic manufacturers. The era of buying is a thing of the past. If you want to stand on the stage of globalization without being tripped, you must have core technology. On the other hand, it is to promote domestic manufacturers to enter independent research and development in all aspects, and it is far more than the mobile phone industry.
In the previous EDA field, there is still a huge gap in my country and it has always relied on Western technology. Today, we have begun to achieve "overtaking on the curve" or even "overtaking on the curve", which means that we have begun to abandon the traditional concept of "it is better to buy than to make" and began to bypass US technology for research and development of chip manufacturing.
In the field of " quantum chip ", many people may not be optimistic about it, but my country has proved feasibility again and again with practical actions. For example, the "9 Chapter 1" quantum computer prototype independently developed by my country, the new superconducting quantum technology independently developed by Alibaba , and Huawei's patented quantum chip technology are all good proofs.
The reason why the United States targets Chinese technology companies and imposes sanctions on chip supply for China's 5G field development is a very important chip supply, which has led to the rapid slowdown in China's 5G field and technological development for a time because the United States is afraid of China's development. We have always said that China started relatively late, especially in front of old empires such as the United States, China's development has no precedent at all.
The same is true in the military or economic field. When the United States drives the fighter and rushes wildly, our military cannot reach the sky. When the American people are leisurely, our people are still fighting for food and clothing. But now, when the US aircraft carrier appears in the South China Sea area to provoke us, we can directly send bomber to simulate attacks.
To a certain extent, the strength of China is not how much it has developed now, but that within a certain period of time, China's development can be beyond imagination. At the same time, there are also many blockades and suppressions from the United States, which has accelerated China's independent research and development in the field of chip semiconductors.Since 2019, more than 9,000 manufacturers have joined the chip semiconductor and integrated circuit industries, showing unprecedented excitement. Secondly, after entering 2022, my country's chip imports decreased by 29 billion in the first half of the year alone, which is undoubtedly a "significant loss" for American manufacturers such as Qualcomm, , Intel , and ARM.
After all, as the world's largest electronic consumer market, China is now unable to ship freely. It will inevitably be a pity to block this big customer at home. This is why foreign media said: " zero-sum game " thinking is no longer suitable for this era of globalization. The United States' excessive suppression of China's chip semiconductor field will only accelerate China's R&D speed. At that time, it will not only lose to American manufacturers, but the entire European and American markets.
As Chinese Academy of Engineering Professor Wu Hanming said: We should not just stay in 14nm, 7nm or more advanced processes, but instead need to focus on the mid- and low-end markets, because compared with high-end chips, it is more important to achieve local mass production of 28nm.
In general, as long as we stick to the green mountains and do not relax and insist on R&D and innovation, we will definitely be able to break through the blockade difficulties. After all, we have the world's largest consumer market advantage. For those who stand in line with the US, they may receive subsidies in a short time, but in the long run, they have lost this big customer. Even if China reaches a chip self-sufficiency rate of 70% in 2025, then there will be nothing they have to do with.
In fact, in history, our country has always been a powerful oriental dragon. Before the decline of the late Qing Dynasty, our country's economic level was always at the forefront of the world, and it was not as strong as the United States. Even if we sent envoys to visit everywhere, we were always seeking friendly exchanges. Even many of our country's advanced science and technology could communicate with other countries. How could such a great country that loves peace, covet the position of the United States as the so-called "global hegemon".
