April 25, 2022, is an ordinary and ordinary day in the long history of time, but for Trane Technologies Asia Pacific R&D Center, it has extraordinary and extraordinary significance. On this day, the R&D center ushered in the important milestone of tenth anniversary of continuous safe operation. In the past 3,652 days and nights, the R&D center has not experienced a single lost working time or recordable accident while supporting global R&D, production and operation-related testing, creating the longest safe operation record since its establishment.

We deeply understand that environmental impact, climate change, and the health and safety of our employees and communities are the most important areas of our sustainable development strategy ." This is A sentence from Trane Technologies' Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Policy. In accordance with this policy, the Asia-Pacific R&D Center has set the health and safety goals of "zero injury" and "zero accident". In order to continuously improve our EHS performance, the R&D center established and implemented the EHS management system , and passed the certification of two major EHS management systems, ISO14001 and ISO45001 (before 2016, it was OHSAS18001) in 2013.
Strengthen the management of "three wastes" and vigorously develop new energy projects
The laboratory of the R&D center has strengthened the orderly management of "three wastes", that is, waste water, waste gas, and waste liquid, to prevent accidental leakage of chemicals, and strictly control related emissions. It has passed the emission requirements set by the state in regular environmental monitoring for more than 10 years, and has never had emissions exceeding the standard. In recent years, in order to further implement the company's "2030 Sustainable Development Commitment", the R&D Center has paid more attention to the improvement of environmental protection indicators and energy conservation. In 2020, our solar photovoltaic projects were successfully connected to the grid for power generation, providing a total of approximately 2.04 million kWh/2040,000 kWh of clean energy for laboratory testing, which is equivalent to saving 714 tons of coal and reducing nearly 2,000 tons of carbon emissions. In 2021, the R&D center introduced the ISO50001 energy management system and successfully obtained certification. The use of green clean energy and the gradually improved energy management methods have enabled the environmental management of the R&D center to achieve a qualitative leap and development.

Regular physical examination and monitoring to strengthen employee health monitoring
At the same time, we are always committed to providing employees with a healthier, cleaner and safer working environment. We not only equip our employees with excellent personal protective equipment, but also conduct regular health monitoring for personnel in special positions. A total of 135 occupational disease screening and physical examinations have been completed so far, and no occupational contraindications or suspected occupational diseases have been found. The physical examination pass rate is 100 %. In addition, we also conduct annual third-party agency monitoring of harmful factors generated in 11 workplaces in 13 testing areas in the laboratory, and the results all meet the requirements.
During the epidemic, we also strictly implemented the government and factory district requirements for epidemic prevention and control, quickly responded to the company's call for resumption of work and production, and worked overtime while ensuring test safety and implementing prevention and control requirements to catch up with the delays due to the epidemic. The project progress strives for more initiative and achieves the goal of "zero infection".

The R&D center laboratory strengthens the safety responsibility system at all levels to ensure that responsibilities are implemented and executed in place, and all personnel are mobilized to actively participate in the management of all levels of daily safety operations. The leadership of the R&D center regularly goes to the laboratory for on-site wiring, the laboratory management team participates in routine safety inspections every week, and each test area conducts safety inspections and reports every day. Potential safety hazards are promptly identified from the institutional and management levels, and safety rectifications are proposed cumulatively. There were 6,857 suggestions, and the rectification completion rate for the month exceeded 93%.
We also actively organize safety level 3 training for new employees, annual safety training, etc., focusing on cultivating employees' safety awareness and improving employees' safety skills and accomplishments.At the same time, the laboratory also formulates and implements preventive measures based on the characteristics and safe operation situations of different test areas, key areas and weak links prone to or multiple safety incidents, and effectively guarantees safe operation in order to achieve the tenth anniversary of safe operation. This milestone lays a solid foundation.
There is no end point for safe operation, we are always on the road. The research and development of higher-power chiller , the upgrading of green and environmentally friendly refrigerants, and the continuous advancement of energy-saving and emission reduction measures have all posed more challenges to the operation of the Asia-Pacific R&D Center.
