According to a report by FIERCE Telecom on July 13, , the Mesa, Arizona (Mesa) City Council voted this week to approve four different vendors, SiFi Networks, Google Fiber, Wyyerd and Generate Ubiquity, to build an open access network for Greater Phoenix. It provides services to more than 220,000 households and businesses in the urban area.

From SiFi Networks’ perspective, the contract with Mesa is a major win for SiFi Networks. So far, the largest city it has built is Arlington, Texas, with more than 174,000 optical fiber units.
Mesa wanted an open fiber network, and Boutry-Jobson said that in his view, SiFi was best suited to provide that, with the company offering a complete end-to-end solution from the data center all the way Residential Gateway to your home or business, not only provides fiber optics to your network but also everything you need from equipment to cabinets. Once the network is completed, it will be used by SiFi to provide Internet services and smart city applications. The
SiFi plan offers symmetrical speeds of up to 10 Gbps. SiFi said the Mesa project could cost $400 million and would be privately funded by SiFi. One of SiFi's investors is APG, a large European pension fund.
