In the first quarter of 2022, the number of 5G application users has exceeded 7 million. According to the latest Ericsson mobile report, global 5G users will increase to 1 billion in 2022, and it is expected that global 5G users will exceed 4.4 billion in 2027.
Igor, President of Ericsson Thailand, revealed that in the Asian market, especially Thailand, there will be significant growth in the number of 5G users and services. Among them, in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, mobile phone data usage continues to grow and will reach an average of 45GB/month in 2027, or an average annual growth of 30%.
In addition, the report also predicts that North America will become the global leader in 5G users by 2027. In terms of global mobile data usage, it has doubled in the past 2 years, mainly due to the increase in the use of smartphones and mobile broadband, which has also led to the digitalization of various social and industrial sectors.
The report also highlights the increasingly important role that 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) plays in Internet broadband services. It is expected that FWA access will exceed 100 million in 2022 and will double by 2027. reaching 230 million.
