According to Rcrwireless report on July 1, the Office of the Hong Kong Communications Authority (OFCA) stated in a statement that mobile operators in Hong Kong will gradually activate mobile base stations in the 700 MHz frequency band to provide 5G services.

OFCA said: "To support Hong Kong's telecommunications and smart city development, the 700 MHz frequency band originally used for television broadcasting has been reallocated to mobile telecommunications services. Starting from June 30, 2022, mobile network operators will gradually Enable base stations in the 700 MHz frequency band to provide 5G services to the public."
The local government previously said that for the 700 MHz, 850 MHz and 2.5 GHz to 2.6 GHz frequency allocations, Hong Kong mobile operators will be required to achieve a minimum population coverage of 90% within five years. The service obligation in the 4.9 GHz band is to cover 50% of the population within five years, while requiring the deployment of at least 100 indoor base stations in the 600 MHz band.
