In the past two days, apart from major national events such as the opening of a stock exchange in Beijing, the most noticeable thing is WeChat.
Let me talk about two WeChat matters first.
One is that as of the end of June, the monthly active accounts of WeChat and WECHAT have reached 1.25 billion. (Data comes from the Internet)
Another is that currently, WeChat only supports the migration of chat history to another device and the backup of chat history to the computer. If the device is lost, the data that is not backed up in time will not be restored.
This means that chat history cloud storage has huge market demand.
And Tencent seems to have discovered this.
According to China Daily News on September 4, Tencent intends to launch a personal WeChat cloud storage paid service, which means that WeChat chat records can be backed up and restored in the cloud. The business may adopt a yearly payment model, with Apple users at around RMB 180/year, and Android users at around RMB 130/year. However, the specific amount of data that can be stored for this fee has not yet been determined.
1.25 billion monthly active users is a dazzling data, meaning Tencent's glory; but it is also a heavy data, which means that Tencent has to pay sky-high costs for this user every day.
So, is there any way to change it? Except for various advertising revenues such as Moments and Official Accounts, as well as the subsequent expansion of WeChat payment revenue, and the much criticized game business, Tencent seems to have no direct income from WeChat, especially WeChat individual users.
As the country has become more stringent in its game business control, the "Notice on Further Strict Management and Practically Preventing Minors from Indulging in Online Games" has recently been issued, which further strictly limits the time available for online games to minors. The notice stipulates that all online game companies can only provide one-hour service to minors from 20 to 21:00 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays. At other times, it is not allowed to provide online game services to minors in any form.
This means that Tencent's model of relying on games for profit and transfusion of WeChat personal business is bound to become more and more difficult.
may be "Thinking about change when you are poor". This time it was said that value-added services for individual WeChat users were provided.
This mode will of course be welcomed by some special users. It can make everyone feel at ease to clean up their phones without having to endure the pain of being overwhelmed by WeChat with limited mobile resources.
The result, we will wait and see. #WeChat intends to launch a paid cloud storage service for chat records#
