On November 28, the "Shanghai Bay Cup" 2022 National Chess Newcomer King Competition held an online and offline opening ceremony. Eight young chess players then fought to compete for the new China Chess "Newcomer King". As a traditional chess event in China that is specifically aimed at young chess players, this newcomer king competition has become the most important domestic stage in the hearts of young chess players.

The eight participating players this year are Huang Renjie , Peng Hongqi, Zhao Chenxi , Lin Yi , Song Yuxin , Li Wenxiang, Ma Lin and Gu Jiazhen . After the seven rounds of single round-robin competition, Huang Renjie, the last champion with the highest score, won 5 wins, 1 and 1 losses and won 5.5 points, winning the championship again. He also became the second chess player to win the title of newcomer king after Xu Yi.

The newly added youth coaching session has many highlights. The six professional players jointly recommended by the Go associations of the two places, Chang Hao , Lin Junyan, Hu Yuqing , Yang Zixuan, Yu Bin , and Wang Yuanjun played coaching chess with six young players selected by the two places. Each professional player played 1 young player in Shanghai and Taipei. Young talents are swept through the water, and young new seedlings grow vigorously. In the professional peak competition, Taipei professional chess player Zhou Junxun Jiudan and Shanghai professional chess player Hu Yaoyu 8dan staged a peak duel, and the game was exciting. The organizer specially invited Go famous Hua Yigang to talk about chess live for the whole process as a chess fan on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and Hu Yaoyu finally won. During the professional exchange competition, professional players from both places competed with Go enthusiasts in the form of joint chess. This year's Youth Go Competition continues to highlight the theme of "Friendship". Shanghai and Taipei successfully held trials and promotions from August to October. After nearly 2,000 sets of fierce competition, 20 young players from both sides stood out. It is worth mentioning that in the promotion competition held on October 28, while selecting the final contestants, the two sides also used the power of the Internet to play and communicate in the promotion competition for the first time.
