Denver Nuggets guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract extension, according to his agent, Klutcher Sports CEO Ri Chi Paul told ESPN on Wednesday night.
Paul said the deal begins with the 2023-24 season and includes a player option.
Pop has entered the final year of his contract, which will pay him $14 million. The guaranteed money in the deal will bring Caldwell-Pope's career earnings to $120 million.
The 29-year-old Caldwell-Pope came to the Nuggets in a trade with the Wizards two weeks ago. He is expected to become the MVP Nikola Jokic , Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.Key 3-D players
Caldwell-Pope is expected to benefit from Jokic's excellent passing ability. He is a 41 percent catch-and-shoot 3-point shooter over the past two years, ranking in the top 10 of 59 players who have attempted 500 attempts, according to ESPN Stats & Information Research.
Caldwell-Pope shot 44.8 percent from 3-point range last season in Washington, which ranked him in the top 10 among players with 150 attempts, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth acquired Caldwell-Pope in the trade, sending Will Barton and Monte Morris to Washington . Caldwell-Pope started 77 games in his first full season with the wizards , averaging 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
During his career, which included the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers , Caldwell-Pope averaged 11.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
