It is worth noting that the first 3D application received by the Bureau came from a resident of the Russian Federation, a member of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO). This means applicants in Eurasia are waiting for the introduction of such tools, which provides them with a convenient opportunity to further explain the development of the proposed patent through a three-dimensional display of the claimed objects, which is indeed a more convenient opportunity for them.
Starting from November 1, 2022, EAPO has begun to accept applications for invention or industrial design patent granting in Eurasia, including patents whose application objects are 3D models. In introducing this feature, EAPO draws on the technical experience of Rospatent, the first institution in the patent offices of EAPO member states to implement 3D models in its programs. Beginning to accept the application of 3D models will not only enable applicants to more fully visualize the applied innovation and creativity, but will also improve the review efficiency of Eurasian applications.
