On October 26, 2022, International Geological Science Federation (IUGS) announced the world's first batch of geological heritage sites in Spain. Seven Chinese geological relics including the " Golden Nail " geological profile in Changxing, Zhejiang were successfully selected as . my country is one of the countries with the most geological heritage sites selected in this selection. On the same day, a press conference was held for 7 geological heritage sites selected by China in Changxing County, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
National Geological Relics Reserve "Changxing Coal Mountain Permian/Triassic Biological Extinction and "Golden Nails"", World Geological Park "Bigrot's Tall Sand Mountains and Lakes in the Jilin Desert of Badan, Inner Mongolia", "Hong Kong Early Cretaceous Acid Igorous Rock Column Joint", "Yunnan Shilin Karst", World Natural Heritage and National Geological Park "Yunnan Chengjiang Cambrian Fossil Origin and Fossil Library", "Translation System of the Southern Tibet Rongbu Canyon", and "Ordovician Rocks of Mount Everest".
It is understood that this selection was held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Geological Sciences. The 100 geological heritage sites selected were selected by 36 election committee members from all over the world for a comprehensive evaluation of 181 candidate geological heritage sites declared by 56 countries. The first batch of 7 geological heritage sites selected by China cover scientific fields such as petroscience , tectonic geology, stratigraphic paleontology, geography lakes, geomorphology , and play an important role in the study of scientific fields such as mineral resource formation, life evolution, and human origin.
