He has been engaged in self-healing control research on grid fault detection, protection, positioning, isolation and recovery for a long time. He proposed the optimization and regulation of neutral point grounding impedance of distribution system neutral point, active voltage arc suppression principle, no-tuning protection technology, grid fault voltage travel wave detection and positioning technology, invented a series of equipment and industrialized promotion and application, and has won more than 30 authorized invention patents, focusing on participating in the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress and the second prize of National Technology Invention.

Yao Yu, born in 1982, is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Water Conservancy Engineering. He is selected as the "Young Yangtze River Scholar" of the Ministry of Education and the "Huxiang Youth Talent" of Hunan Province. Mainly engaged in the teaching of undergraduate "coastal dynamics" and graduate "wave theory and its application".
