In the "Schematic Diagram of Migratory Bird Migratory Route in Chongqing" released this time, there are 8 migration channels, including the parallel ridge Raptor migration channel, Yangtze River , Jialing River Basin Water bird Migratory Channel, etc. Chai Jianyun, a bird monitor at the Chongqing Birdwatching Club, introduced that "it can be seen that they are migrating from the mountains and rivers in Chongqing." These migration channels form the stopping grounds, wintering grounds and breeding grounds for migratory birds. For example, the migratory bird migration channel in Daba Mountain is the breeding ground for many migratory birds, the parallel ridge in Chongqing is the migration channel for birds of prey, and the Yangtze River Basin and the Jialing River are the migration channels for a large number of water birds.
For these migratory birds, large mountains and rivers are signposts and stations for their migration. During the day and at night, there will be different migratory migratory birds traveling day and night, including summer migratory birds and winter migratory birds . Chai Jianyun introduced that Chongqing’s Tongluo Mountains, Zhongliang Mountains, Jinyun Mountains and Mingyue Mountains, these four major mountains pass through the central urban area of Chongqing. Therefore, many birds of prey will pass through the central urban area when migrating, using the terrain and hot air currents to climb upwards, and citizens have the opportunity to watch the migration of the birds of prey.
According to reports, the most representative of these raptors is the crested beehawk. During the monitoring of Chongqing Birdwatching Club, 80% of the transit birds of prey are crested beehawks, and the daily statistics will exceed 10,000 at most. As a kind of traveling bird, although the crested eagle only passes through Chongqing, it is very important to them. "They migrate during the day and stop at night, so the forests of these mountain ranges in Chongqing are very important stops. They will have a sense of formation, gathering together to find airflow, forming eagle columns, hovering along the hot air to a high place, and then flying out one by one, just like the Eagle River," said Chai Jianyun.
For some small songbirds, the mountains of Chongqing are also very important. For example, as representatives of summer migratory birds, the habitats of long-tailed mountain pepper birds and black-pillowed oriole are mainly forests. During the migration, they will stop in the forest. There are also some summer migratory birds with very small numbers, such as Hainan Flying , which has only been observed in Youyang .
Mountain forests are important stations for migrating birds such as birds of prey and songbirds, while river water is the waterway for water birds to migrate. As the environment continues to improve, some rare birds began to come to Chongqing, a city of landscapes, and even steadily overwinter here.
Chinese merganser , is a national first-class protected animal . They breed in forests in Changbai Mountain and other places in the northeast. In winter, they will fly to the south of the Yellow River basin and other places to overwinter. Although the number is small, the stable overwintering population has been found in the Qihe River Basin in Chongqing. Chai Jianyun said, "Through monitoring, we found that the Chinese merganser likes clear flowing water, the water flow cannot be too deep, and there are habitats like canyons on both sides."
yellow-billed loon was recorded in Chongqing for the first time last year. According to reports, Chongqing is not a place where they usually migrate, but last winter, a yellow-billed loon stayed in the Qi River Basin for more than a month.Chai Jianyun said, "The fact that it has stayed in the Qihe River for so long means that it can find food, because generally during migration, some migratory birds need to supplement their food. This means that the river is now in good condition and can provide supplies to the migratory birds, allowing them to regain their strength before continuing. "
For the general public, when watching the natural landscape of migratory birds overwintering, the real "way of hospitality" is not to destroy their habitats, not to eat wild animals, and not to raise or buy them illegally. The Municipal Forestry Bureau advocates that citizens should be participants in the protection of wild animal resources. They should not watch or photograph wild animals at close range, do not send wild animals and their products, and do not pick up and feed wild animals at will.
