A few days ago, Tang Xiaoping's team and Academician Zhong Nanshan's team published a research article on the re-positive resumption of different strains of new coronavirus patients in the international authoritative medical journal "National Science Review", which attracted great attention.
The study found that from the original strain discovered in the early stage of the epidemic, to the Delta mutant strain in Guangzhou last year's "5.21" epidemic, and to the current Omickron strain, there is indeed a certain re-positive rate for infected people: the original strain is more than 7%, the Delta is more than 20%, and Omickron is also similar.
At the same time, the study found that the infectiousness of those who re-positive are very low. First, most of the nucleic acid CT values of re-positive people are above 35, and those with CT values below 30 account for less than 5%. Even if these viruses with less than 5% of the re-positive viruses were cultured, no new coronavirus was cultivated. Second, no complete viral gene was detected, but only gene fragments. Third, all close contacts of all patients with re-positive positive were followed up by a three-person community group, and no close contacts were found to be infected.
"This shows that those who re-positively are generally safe and their infectiousness is very, very low." Tang Xiaoping emphasized that no matter how the virus changes, new coronavirus vaccine still has a significant effect on Omickron's severity and mortality.
