1977 was born in Zhangqiu, Shandong Province. He is a famous structural biologist. He graduated from Tsinghua University in 2000. He graduated from Princeton University in 2004 with a doctorate. From 2005 to 2007, he was engaged in postdoctoral research in the Department of Molecular Biology of Princeton University. In 2007, Yan Ning, who was only 30 years old, served as a professor and doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua University.
In May 2017, Yan Ning accepted the invitation from Princeton University in the United States and was hired as a tenured professor of the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. In 2019, he was elected as a foreign academician of the National Academy of Sciences. In 2021, he was elected as a foreign academician of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Yan Ning is mainly engaged in the study of important membrane transporters related to diseases, the structure and working mechanism of voltage-gated ion channels, and the molecular mechanism of membrane protein regulating the cholesterol metabolism pathway.
