Ye Duzheng , a famous meteorologist, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one of the main founders of modern Chinese meteorology , founder of Chinese atmospheric physics, and pioneer of global climate change research. He is the first meteorologist in the world to give a satisfactory explanation for the formation of blockage high pressure. He has made many internationally leading research on the changes in atmospheric circulation . Through scientific research results, the international academic community has accepted the concept of thermal action in the large terrain, and based on this, it has established Qinghai-Tibet Plateau meteorology. With a far-sighted strategic vision, he has insight into the weather and led the Chinese meteorological community to the forefront of the world.
1950, Ye Duzheng, who obtained a Ph.D. in the Department of Meteorology of the University of Chicago and his wife returned to the new China, which was in ruins. With the determination to strengthen and develop the meteorological cause of the motherland, he led more than a dozen staff members to start from scratch and devote themselves to the preparation and construction of my country's atmospheric scientific research institutions, created the meteorological cause of New China, and effectively improved the accuracy of my country's weather forecasts, ending the era of "unprecedented storms and clouds in the sky".

He linked global climate change with sustainable development, proposed scientific ideas and theoretical research frameworks such as the sensitivity of the climate and vegetation transition zone, the role of atmospheric chemistry in global changes, and the adaptation of "orderly human activities" to global changes, and was evaluated by World Meteorological Organization as "the pioneer of global climate change research."
Under the guidance of Ye Duzheng, China has established a number of major national scientific research projects in the field of global climate change. It has made great progress in just a few years and has occupied a place internationally, greatly increasing the voice of Chinese scientists in the field of global climate change research. In 1995, the international scientific research project START (full name Global Change System for Analysis, Research and Training) prepared the establishment of the "East Asia Global Change Regional Committee" in East Asia, and thus established the "Global Change East Asia Regional Research Center", which was located at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, fully reflecting my country's strength and international influence in this scientific research field.

In 2004, Ye Duzheng won the International Meteorological Organization Award , known as the "Meteorological Nobel Prize", and then won the 2005 National Highest Science and Technology Award . Ye Duzheng, who was in his 80s, did not slacken over many honors. He still insisted on going to work in the unit every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
In order to capture the problems he thought of and the occasional inspiration, Ye Duzheng would carry a small notebook with him wherever he went. He believes: "Working scientific research will naturally put yourself in an endless state of thinking. These sparks of inspiration that flash by chance are often clues to solving some major scientific problems."
Ye Duzheng devoted himself to science and was brave in innovation, and worked hard for the motherland's scientific cause to occupy a place in the international academic circle for the rest of his life. He has been working so hard on the road of scientific research, but he always feels that he doesn’t have enough time. “I want to do too much. If I can complete most of the plans when I leave this world, I will have no regrets in my life."
