Today is the birthday of Academician Chen Zhongwei (October 1, 1929-March 23, 2004). He is one of the founders of microsurgery in the world. In 1963, he successfully performed replantation surgery for the first time for the complete breaking of his right hand, and initiated replantation surgery. He was hailed by the international medical community as the founder of the replantation of the broken limb. He created six world firsts, making my country's broken limb replantation technology at the forefront of the world. He trained nearly 2,000 doctors at home and abroad engaged in replantation of broken limbs, and he has a lot of students all over the world. The proposed "Standard for Restoring Function of Broken Limb Replantation" is recognized by the international academic community as the " Chen's Standard". Premier Zhou Enlai met him four times, praising his spirit of daring to think and do and his work style of seeking truth from facts. In January 1963, Shanghai worker Wang Cunbai's right wrist joint was completely cut off by punch . Chen Zhongwei overcomes great difficulties and performs replantation on him. Six months later, Wang Cunbai's re-take of the hand can stretch, flex, write, and lift heavy objects, proving that the broken hand re-implant surgery is very successful.
