Since his student days, Chen Lingling has developed strong curiosity about the unknown areas of life sciences. Non-coding ribonucleic acid is called "dark matter" in living organisms, and there is increasing evidence that some major diseases are related to imbalance in regulation of non-coding ribonucleic acids. However, more than 10 years ago, this research was just starting internationally and was still blank in China, which became the direction of Chen Lingling's research.

In 2011, Chen Lingling gave up her generous treatment abroad and returned to China. Starting from an empty room, recruiting teams, applying for funds, and cultivating graduate students... The laboratory was initially established and the conditions were arduous. Chen Lingling was not afraid of difficulties and was willing to move towards the scientific highland.

Over the years, Chen Lingling has led the team to create a long non-coding and circular ribonucleic acid research technology system, and has made a series of breakthrough achievements in revealing its generation rules, mechanisms of action and its association with human diseases, enhancing my country's international influence in this field. To date, her team has published more than 60 scientific citation index (SCI) papers and obtained 4 authorized invention patents.
