Song Baoliang was appointed as Vice President of Wuhan University
Song Baoliang was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in November 2021
At the age of 46, he became the youngest academician elected at the time. According to the official website of Wuhan University, Song Baoliang is currently the vice president of Wuhan University, a doctoral supervisor, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also the dean of the School of Life Sciences of Wuhan University and the Taikang Medical College ( Dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences and Director of Taikang Life Medicine Center.
Song Baoliang has long been committed to cholesterol metabolism research and has made a series of important original discoveries: elucidating the molecular pathways of cholesterol absorption in the small intestine; revealing a cholesterol synthesis regulatory pathway; discovering new pathways and methods of intracellular cholesterol transport; identifying new These results provide new ideas and theoretical basis for the development of lipid-lowering drugs.
According to reports, Song Baoliang has published more than 50 corresponding author papers in journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, etc. His results were twice selected into the "Top Ten Progress in Life Sciences in China" ; he won the Tan Kah Kee Youth Science Award , China Youth Science and Technology Award , Scientific Exploration Award and other honors. He concurrently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Cell Biology and the leader of the expert group of the National Fund Commission’s major research project “Spatial and Temporal Network Regulation of Glucolipid Metabolism”.
In 2019, Song Baoliang gave a speech at the opening ceremony of graduate students, using his own growth experience to inspire graduate students, and put forward six suggestions for quickly integrating into graduate student life.

Suggestion 6: When doing scientific research on , you should have one or two very cutting-edge or even whimsical scientific questions in your mind. When conditions are mature in the future or you have a flash of inspiration, you may find a breakthrough point to overcome this difficulty.
