"Midwife" on the Huangyu migration road in Qinghai Lake
On June 29, staff were working in the Quanji River in Gangcha County artificial insemination of Huang fish.
It is currently the migration season of yellowtail fish in Qinghai Lake. In the Quanji River located in Gangcha County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, scientific and technological workers from Qinghai Lake Naked Carp Rescue Center seized the opportunity to capture the broodstock, quickly carried out artificial egg collection on site, inseminated the broodstock and released the broodstock, and then released the fertilized eggs. The naked carps were brought back to Qinghai Lake Shaliu River Quanji River Proliferation Experimental Station for artificial incubation to improve the hatching rate and survival rate of Huang fish.
This year, scientific and technological workers will carry out artificial breeding in accordance with the goal of breeding and releasing 20 million yellowtail fish next year. The fry hatched at the experimental station will be transported to the Qinghai Lake Naked Carp Rescue Center in Xining City for artificial cultivation in ponds and factory workshops; after one year, the Huang fish will reach 10 centimeters in length and weigh more than 10 grams. It was transported back to Qinghai Lake and released into the original river channel.
Huangyu, whose scientific name is "Qinghai Lake Naked Carp", is a national second-level protected animal and is a core species in the "water-bird-fish" ecological chain of Qinghai Lake. Since 2001, Qinghai Province has implemented a comprehensive lake closure policy for fish cultivation. In 2003, the Qinghai Lake Naked Carp Rescue Center was established to actively carry out artificial breeding and release of fish. As of December 2021, Qinghai Province has artificially propagated and released 176 million Qinghai Lake naked carp, making an important contribution to the increase of Qinghai Lake naked carp resources.
