On May 6, 2021, the State Key Laboratory of Ultra HD Video and Audio Production and Broadcasting of the Headquarters held the first plenary meeting of the first academic committee. Academician Gao Wen of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and other academic committee members attended the meeting. Relevant leaders of the Research Department attended the meeting.
Director of the Technical Bureau, Xu Jin, presided over the meeting and read out the decision of the Head Office on the establishment of the State Key Laboratory of Ultra-HD Video and Audio Production and Broadcasting and Presentation Academic Committee. Approved by the Party Group of the General Station, the first laboratory academic committee was formally established on April 9, employing Academician Gao Wen of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Mao Junfa of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Dai Qionghai of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Shen Changxiang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chinese Academy of Engineering 12 well-known experts including Academician Ding Wenhua, Jiang Wenbo, Qian Yuelin, Song Yichun, Zhang Wenjun, Wang Yanfeng, Xie Jinhui and Feng Jingfeng are the members, and Academician Gao Wen is the director of the Academic Committee. Jiang Wenbo, a member of the Taiwan Editorial Conference, is the director of the laboratory.
The academic committee inspected the relevant scientific research achievements of the laboratory, and went to the front line of 4K ultra-high-definition broadcast to conduct on-site inspections. On behalf of the laboratory, Jiang Wenbo reported to the academic committee the progress of the past year and the research plan for 2021. According to the research direction and application requirements, the laboratory has initially established the ultra-high-definition TV production technology research laboratory, the ultra-high-definition TV broadcasting technology research laboratory, the 5G media application laboratory, and the audio-visual new media fusion production technology research experiment. There are 6 professional technical laboratories, including the research laboratory of news fusion production and broadcasting technology, and the research laboratory of three-dimensional sound and digital audio technology, and the media intelligent technology research laboratory has been jointly established with the collaborative unit Shanghai Jiaotong University . The Institute has jointly built a video and audio evaluation technology research laboratory.In 2020, the laboratory successfully applied for and undertook three projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology's national key R&D program - "Winter Olympics Ultra HD 8K Digital Broadcasting Technology and System", "4K Ultra HD TV Production and Broadcasting System Development" and "Radio Network-Based Development". Research on key technologies for collaborative distribution of ultra-high-definition full-media content integrated with 5G mobile network”; and the 5G new infrastructure construction project “5G+4K/8K ultra-high-definition production and broadcasting demonstration platform” of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In August 2020, the laboratory publicly released the first batch of open topic guides for 8K ultra-high-definition TV channel broadcast, 4K benchmark monitor, AI+VR intelligent virtual reality production, audiovisual program copyright management based on blockchain technology, IPv6, etc. 11 research topics have been deployed for key technologies, and research and scientific research cooperation has been solicited from the society. At present, various research topics have been fully launched, and some projects have achieved phased results.
The academic committee highly affirmed the work of the laboratory since its establishment, and put forward valuable opinions on the future development of the laboratory. In particular, it proposed to strengthen the international layout, occupy an important position in international standards, and strengthen cooperation with scientific research institutions. Strive to lead the international development trend in the field of ultra-high-definition video and audio technology, and at the same time carry out cutting-edge technology research in the fields of information security and artificial intelligence applications, and actively innovate in laboratory scientific research mechanisms.
