On December 31, entrusted by the Hunan Provincial Health Commission and under the guidance of Deputy Director Zhu Yimin, the Hunan Provincial Severe Treatment Plan for Novel Coronavirus Infection (Trial) was released, led by the Hunan Provincial Critical Care Medicine Quality Control Center of Central South University Xiangya Hospital, Professor Zhang Lina, director of the Provincial Quality Control Center and Director of the Critical Care Medicine Center of Xiangya Hospital , and Peng Qianyi, Secretary of the Provincial Quality Control Center and Associate Researcher of the Department of Critical Care Medicine of Xiangya Hospital. The program aims to improve intensive care unit doctors' understanding of novel coronavirus infection and its critical illness, provide a reference for clinical decision-making on severe COVID-19 treatment, promote standardized diagnosis and treatment, and improve the level of severe COVID-19 treatment in Hunan Province.

After receiving the task on the evening of the 27th, Central South University Xiangya Hospital immediately organized Professor Qian Zhaoxin, Professor Ai Yuhang, Professor Zhang Lina, Professor Xu Daomiao, Professor Ma Xinhua, Liu Zhi Associate Professor Yong, Associate Professor Li Li, Associate Researcher Peng Qianyi and other experts formed a team. Professor Zhang Lina and Associate Researcher Peng Qianyi wrote the first draft on the evening of the 28th with reference to domestic and foreign guidelines, consensus, clinical research databases, and large-scale clinical research evidence, adhering to the principles of evidence-based, concise, and highly operable. Especially after the current outbreak of the epidemic in Hunan Province, Director Zhang Lina led the critical care team to take root in critical care, and deployed emergency in the entire hospital. It defines the classification of new coronavirus infection to facilitate medical institutions at all levels to identify and improve the classification of new coronavirus patients as soon as possible after admission. At the same time, detailed indicators and treatment standards are given for the admission and transfer of patients in the COVID-19 ICU and convertible ICU (sub-intensive ward), as well as treatment plans for severe cases of COVID-19. It also provides daily ward rounds lists, severe and critical illness warnings for the monitoring and evaluation of patients with severe COVID-19 infection.

As an important regional critical care center in the central and southern regions of , the Department of Critical Care Medicine of Xiangya Hospital was assigned the task of drafting the "Regulations on Severe and Critical New Coronavirus Infections in Hunan Province" when the COVID-19 epidemic broke out in 2020.
