The cold weather

It’s the peak season of stroke again

Do you really know about stroke?

Stroke, commonly known as stroke

Every minute or even every second

it occurs, it seriously threatens the patient's life safety

Be careful! Cold weather increases the probability of stroke

Basic blood pressure will generally increase after the weather turns cold, increasing the risk of stroke.

Blood vessels are prone to "cramping" when cold

When the human body needs to resist low temperatures, it will send blood from the subcutaneous blood vessels to the interior of the body to conserve energy. As a result, blood vessels in the skin and subcutaneous tissue will constrict, blood pressure will increase, and the burden on the heart and brain will increase. Cold can also directly stimulate cerebral blood vessels, leading to cerebral artery spasm and acute cerebral infarction.

Dry climate leads to thick blood

The climate in autumn and winter in the north is dry, the air humidity is low, and the human body consumes a lot of water. If you do not pay attention to drinking water, it will easily cause the blood to become sticky, slow down the blood flow, and more easily form thrombosis, causing ischemic stroke (cerebral infarction).

If the blood pressure is slightly higher than usual, that is, the systolic blood pressure does not increase by more than 10 mmHg, no special treatment is needed temporarily, just observation;

If the systolic blood pressure (high pressure) rises by more than 10 mmHg, or the blood pressure of young and middle-aged people continues to exceed 140/90 mmHg, or the blood pressure of the elderly continues to exceed 150/90 mmHg, you need to consult your doctor whether you need to adjust your medication.

How to identify stroke early?

Simply put, it is 6 letters - BEFAST, which is the abbreviation of 6 English words, literally meaning " is faster than ":

patients have unclear vision, double vision, visual field defects ; or abnormal eye position .

are abnormal. You must seize the time, race against time, and seek medical treatment as soon as possible.

hopes that through these simple letters, we can improve everyone's ability to identify stroke early, so that more patients can receive more effective treatment in a timely manner and obtain better clinical prognosis.

Misunderstandings about stroke

01 Infusion during the change of seasons can prevent stroke (✘)

No drug can last for several months, and its effect will disappear soon after the infusion ends. Therefore, short-term infusion cannot prevent stroke in the long term.

Those who receive infusions during seasonal changes are usually the elderly. The elasticity of the blood vessels of the elderly is reduced and becomes brittle. Repeated infusions can easily cause subcutaneous bleeding and even phlebitis, making it more difficult for the blood vessels to be injected when the time comes for infusion treatment. Moreover, infusion will increase blood volume in the short term, which may induce or aggravate the disease in patients with basic diseases such as heart disease. Therefore, if there are no symptoms related to stroke, short-term infusion of one or two drugs alone during the change of seasons cannot play a preventive role.

02 Stroke is a disease only suffered by the elderly, young people do not need to worry (✘)

Although the main victims of stroke are the elderly, this does not mean that young people can "sit back and relax". Stroke is affecting younger and younger people.

A study found that the number of stroke patients aged 20 to 64 has increased by 31% in the past 20 years. And as many unhealthy lifestyles become increasingly common among young people, it is very necessary for young people to actively strengthen prevention and stay away from stroke.

03 Stroke occurs suddenly and there is no way to identify it early (✘)

Timely medical treatment after a stroke occurs is the key to achieving good treatment results, which relies on early identification of some signs before the stroke occurs.

For example, one side of the limb is weak, clumsy, heavy or numb, one side of the face is numb or the corners of the mouth are crooked, slurred speech or difficulty understanding language, eyes staring to one side, loss or blurring of vision on one or both eyes, visual rotation or balance disorder, severe headaches, vomiting, etc. that were rare in the past. In this case, you should seek medical treatment promptly or call 120.
