This November is the 22nd "Global Lung Cancer Care Month". This is a global initiative initiated by the World Lung Cancer Alliance in November 2001. It aims to call on countries around the world to pay attention to the prevention of lung cancer, increase people's awareness of cancer prevention and anti-cancer, and popularize standardized diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
In order to appeal to the whole society to pay attention to patients with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer and encourage patients to fight against the disease with a positive mental outlook, the "Dare to Table Tennis Only Win the Lung" online table tennis relay activity initiated by China Anti-Cancer Association and supported by Roche Pharmaceuticals China and other public welfare support broke the Guinness World Records title and won the Guinness World Records "The Largest Online Table Tennis Video Chain".
This event was officially launched in November "Global Lung Cancer Focus Month". The event attracted more than 300 experts and doctors in the field of lung cancer, some lung cancer patients and caring people in the society to actively participate, filming and uploading videos of playing table tennis and participating in relays. At the same time, it was an inspiring slogan - "Relay together, follow ALK, Walk the Talk (do what you say), come again next year!" Through the relay table tennis ball round, patients with ALK-positive lung cancer are encouraged to learn the fighting spirit of Chinese table tennis and actively face life challenges. Guinness World Record also officially announced that this world record title exclusively for ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer patients has been successfully created and was included in the "Guinness World Record Collection".
Lung cancer is the most common malignant tumor in my country. Its incidence and mortality rate rank first among malignant tumors, and it is the "first cancer killer" in my country. Among lung cancers, non-small cell lung cancer is the most common type of lung cancer, accounting for 85%-90% of all lung cancers, and about 3%-7% of patients have ALK gene mutations, which is a relatively rare but very dangerous and unique subtype. With the continuous advancement of precision medicine, a series of targeted therapeutic drugs such as ALK inhibitors have been continuously emerging. This fusion gene mutation is also called the "diamond mutation" in lung cancer. At present, the prognosis of patients with ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer has been significantly improved. According to ALEX research, the patient's 5-year survival rate has reached 62.5%, which makes "lung cancer a chronic disease". Even if lung cancer is diagnosed, the patient will never give up his fighting spirit and will receive gene detection and standardized treatment in a timely manner, and is expected to achieve long-term survival.
In addition, China's "ALK-positive lung cancer patients care alliance" promises to strive to improve the diagnosis and standardized treatment of ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer, and provide comprehensive support in innovative payments, patient education, disease management and emotional communication.
relay table tennis ball-splitting activity gives more people the opportunity to understand ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer, and supports ALK lung cancer patients to fight the disease through joint efforts of all parties to light up the most beautiful smile of ALK-positive patients.
