During the CIIE, Eli Lilly reached a cooperation intention with local leading diagnostic companies Ed Biologics and Rotstone Medical , and will jointly promote the development of Eli Lilly's world's first highly selective RET inhibitor ceprotinib in China to benefit more patients with RET-driven cancer in China.

It is understood that this will be the first cooperation between Eli Lilly and a Chinese local diagnosis company. It aims to integrate the advantageous resources of all parties in the field of tumor diagnosis and treatment, focus on the needs of patients' full course management, jointly promote the popularization of innovative tumor drugs, and help China's new development of precise tumor diagnosis and treatment.

From the perspective of global tumor treatment development, it has entered the era of precision medicine. In the new era, precision medicine in tumors requires the coordination of drugs and diagnosis. In recent years, the National Drug Administration's Drug Review Center (CDE), the National Drug Administration's Medical Device Technology Review Center (CMDE) and other departments have successively issued a number of guiding principles, emphasizing the necessity of standardized precise detection and companion diagnosis in the research and development of new drugs. Accurate detection and companion diagnosis can more accurately identify the drug users, thereby improving the clinical benefits of tumor patients.

"Healthy China Action 2019-2030" clearly requires the five-year survival rate of of the tumor by 15%. Accurate diagnosis and treatment are of great significance to improving the five-year survival rate of cancer.

Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University Professor Zhou Caicun said, "Taking the lung cancer field as an example, in recent years, lung cancer patients with 'rare target mutations' are no longer curable. Through accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment methods can be screened for these patients, thereby maximizing the benefits of patients. We hope that more effective and accurate diagnosis and treatment plans can enter the clinical clinic as soon as possible and comprehensively improve the diagnosis and treatment level and efficacy of lung cancer in China."

As a leading enterprise in the field of anti-tumor drugs, Eli Lilly has continued to make efforts in the field of precision treatment in recent years. Its innovative targeted drug ceprotinib was approved by the US FDA in May 2020, becoming the world's first highly selective RET inhibitor approved. It was officially approved in China in September 2022 for RET-driven lung cancer and thyroid cancer patients.

"The Ceptinib, which was just approved for marketing in China, is a breakthrough achievement of Eli Lilly's exploration in the field of precision tumor treatment. The cooperation intention with China's leading diagnostic companies, Aid Bio and Renshi Medicine, is a milestone step forward for Eli Lilly in the field of precision tumor diagnosis and treatment. It will enable Ceptinib to be more effective and precisely applied in Chinese clinical practice and benefit more Chinese patients." Wang Li, senior vice president of Eli Lilly and head of the China Drug Development and Medical Affairs Center, said that in the future, Eli Lilly will always be patient-centered, drive research and development with innovation, and work with all parties to promote the continuous development of precision tumor diagnosis and treatment, and build a new future for China's precision diagnosis and treatment.

It is reported that the cooperation between Eli Lilly and two diagnostic companies will focus on the fields of lung cancer and thyroid cancer that the highly selective RET inhibitor ceprotinib has been approved in China. The two parties will work together to develop and commercialize the concomitant diagnostic reagents of ceprotinib in China to detect RET gene mutations in patients with lung and thyroid cancer.

Eid Bio is a leading enterprise focusing on the field of precision tumor treatment and diagnosis. In fact, since 2019, Ed and Eli Lilly have begun to carry out global companion diagnosis cooperation in the field of lung cancer. Against the background of the achievements, it should be said that this cooperation with Eli Lilly China is an important witness to the continuous deepening of the partnership between the two parties.

"We are willing to work with Eli Lilly to promote the development of precise diagnosis and treatment in China and provide more options for the health and well-being of cancer patients in China and even the world." Zheng Limou, founder and chairman of Ed Bio, said.

Ranshi Medicine focuses on the entire process of tumor precision medicine. Based on the world's leading laboratory management methods and second-generation sequencing detection technology, it can fully layout and help pharmaceutical companies with companion diagnostic development from a global perspective.

Regarding this cooperation, Han Yusheng, founder and CEO of Ranshi Medicine, said that Eli Lilly's concept of innovatively improving human health is highly compatible with Ranshi Medicine. He believes that both parties will create standardized and high-standard examples for the joint development of new anti-tumor drugs, and help China's accurate tumor diagnosis and treatment to achieve great development.

"Thanks to the favorable policies of China's medical and health industry, we are accelerating the introduction of more innovative tumor drugs into China. The first place to be launched in Boao Lecheng, Hainan before China was officially approved is a very good witness. Eli Lilly has been deeply involved in the field of cancer treatment in China for many years, and has been continuously bringing high-quality and affordable innovative drugs to Chinese cancer patients through independent research and development and local cooperation." Ji Liwen, president and general manager of Eli Lilly China, said that in the future, Eli Lilly will continue to explore diversified cooperation models, accelerate the research and development of innovative drugs, and actively promote the accessibility of innovative drugs.
