" Linqiong has been known as Qianshu since ancient times. The city streets are densely covered with many back streets and alleys. The water alley system has this water well at one glance. Its water quality is clear and sweet, with abundant water sources. It will not dry up over the years, and it will never stop and benefit all directions." This section comes from the preface of the ancient well stele of Shuixiangzi, Qionglai City, and expresses the name of "Shuixiangzi" in the ancient city of Linqiong. However, the naming of this alley located in the lower section of South Street, Qionglai City is not so simple. After investigation and investigation by multiple parties, there are several different sources of the name of the alley:
Statement 1: A long time ago, people from Hu, Zeng, Yu, He and Yang moved to the south of the city one after another, with enough food and clothing and peace. There are unexpected storms in the sky, and a drought that has never been seen in a century has ravaged the earth. Under the scorching sun, the seedlings have dried up, the rivers have broken down, and the well water cannot produce a drop of water. People are living in poverty, and many people leave their hometowns. Little Golden Dragon, who was practicing in the cave of Tiantai Mountain, witnessed the people suffering from hunger and thirst, and was determined to sacrifice themselves to save the people. One night, the little golden dragon flew under the mountain through his master, fled into the ground in the south of the city, transformed into a water vein, and raised a small mound on the ground. In the early morning, people found small mounds. Different from that, digging underground, the soil and rocks still vaguely exist in dragon traces. After digging it again, a clear spring gushed out, so the stones were built to make a well. The people in the city cried happily when they heard this, and carried buckets of and pots of , all of them came to get water. Because this well is transformed by a dragon, the water of the well is naturally different. It is not only clear and sweet, but also does not dry over the years. Some people have since relied on carrying water in this well to make ends meet. In order to express the grace of Xiao Jinlong for saving the people, the people called the alley formed later the water alley, and the cave where Xiao Jinlong practiced in Tiantai Mountain was called the Golden Dragon Cave. "This story, engraved on the walls of the alley, tells the world the "Legend of Water Alley".
Story 2: In the past, this was a poor alley. People living in the alley had a very difficult life, and they all depended on working (working for others). There were several particularly difficult families who went out to work during the day and sold wells in the alley in the morning and evening In this way, we can barely make a living. This situation continued until the early 1950s, when the water-carrying business disappeared and became a memory of history. In addition to providing water to residents in the alley, this cool and sweet well water is also loved by residents in the south gate area close to this alley, and they all come to this well to carry water. Every morning, the water sprinkled by the water carriers poured out the entire alley wet dirt road, and the low-lying sections are even more It was muddy. So people called this alley "water alley". In addition, the terrain of this alley is low, and waterlogging is difficult to eliminate every rainy season, and waterlogging becomes a veritable "water alley". This situation of flooding is extended to the 1990s, when Qionglai City implemented the urban flood control project, it was completely eradicated.
Shui Lane
In 2012, Qionglai City built back streets and alleys, further improving the living environment of water alleys and improving the quality of life of citizens. Half of the wells on the original water well in the middle section of the alley was rebuilt, and the "Original Site of the Water Alley Ancient Well" sign was engraved on the upper wall, leaving the past Spring and Autumn for the world to see.The monument of "Shuixiang Ancient Well" is erected on the west side of the well site. The description of "The ancient well has not existed for a long time, but the terrain of the tunnel is low and the drainage is not smooth. Whenever rains, rainwater gathers, and the ground is paved for many years and is unrepaired, and the potholes are muddy and full of feet when traveling. People miss the tunnels, and the name "Shuixiang" is really false." The description and the opening sentence of this article not only reveal the origin and falsehood of the name of "Shuixiang", but also outline the sour and awkward history of ordinary people's life. The name of the alley is full of the mark of citizens' lives, reflecting the economic life of the civilians at that time.
Now, Linqiong Ancient City, which enters from No. 454, the lower section of South Street, has a three-fold path and walks out from the west side of Room 392, Changsong Road. It is only 200 meters long. The widest part of the alley is about 3 meters, and the narrowest part is only more than 1 meter. Dozens of households in the alley live next to the Wenhui Lane that is famous in western Sichuan. Walking through the alleys, stepping on the alley paved with blue bricks, browsing the legendary stories of the "water alley" on the gray wall, watching the original site of the ancient well that carries the nostalgia of Linqiong residents for generations, savoring the preface of the stele integrated into the ancient city culture, reading the name of this old alley and the historical information condensed by the remains of the ancient well, allowing people to deeply feel the heaviness and temperature of the history of Linqiong Ancient City.
