Comrade Fu Kuiqing, the former political commissar of Nanjing Military Region and the former political commissar of Fuzhou Military Region, died in Nanjing in the early morning of August 28, 2022 due to ineffective treatment. He was 102 years old.
Fu Kuiqing served as a secret traffic officer in October 1937, joined the Communist Party of China in August 1938, and joined the New Fourth Army in 1939. He successively served as company and battalion chief officer, political commissar of the regiment, division and army, secretary of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, deputy political commissar and director of the political department of the Shenyang Military Region, political commissar of the Fuzhou Military Region and Nanjing Military Region.
From May 1947, he served as deputy political commissar and director of the political department of the 58th Regiment of the 20th Division of the 7th Column of the East China Field Army. In March 1949, he served as the acting political commissar of the 220th Regiment of the 74th Division of the 25th Army of the Third Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In September, he served as the political commissar of the 220th Regiment of the 74th Division of the 25th Army of the Third Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. He successively participated in the Suzhong, Subei, Menglianggu, Laiyang, Zichuan, Zouxian, Yanzhou, Huaihai, Dujiang and other battles such as Shanghai and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. During the capture of Yanzhou City, he served as the deputy political commissar of the regiment, and his regiment was one of the main attacking regiments. He followed the assault company into the city, and continued to fight despite being wounded until complete victory. In the Huaihai Battle encirclement and annihilation of the Huangwei Corps, he led his troops in Dawangzhuang and annihilated most of the 33rd Regiment of the Kuomintang Army, known as the "Hero Regiment", with his brother troops.
