At the beginning of 1990, Sino-Vietnam relations tended to ease. After consultation, the two sides decided to exchange prisoners of war in the Laoshan Battle. China exchanged 17 prisoners of war from Vietnam to return the five People's Liberation Army that had been detained for many years. The five PLAs included four ordinary soldiers and an officer, who was Wang Bin, who was captured in 1984 and imprisoned for nearly 6 years. When he was exchanged for the country, he weighed only 37 kilograms. As a Chinese officer, what kind of inhuman treatment did he suffer in Vietnam?

In the late 1970s, the Vietnamese army was indiscriminately causing trouble at our border and deliberately provoked disputes. In view of the repeated offensives of our border and undermining our territorial integrity, our country had no choice but to launch a self-defense counterattack against Vietnam. After the battle, our army withdrew from Vietnam in accordance with the instructions of the central government. Vietnam suffered heavy losses in the battle. Instead of taking this as a warning, the Li Duan Group made small moves behind the scenes. Not long afterwards, the Vietnamese side adjusted its deployment and took advantage of the unpreparedness of our army, and sent troops to invade our country's Laoshan area. This approach of Vietnam has completely angered our country.
Soon, our army gathered forces to the Laoshan area, vowing to take back Laoshan and drive the enemy out of the border area completely. On April 28, 1984, the Laoshan regaining war officially began.
The 2nd Company of the 1st Battalion where Wang Bin is located is ordered to carry out interspersed operations. Advance in a roundabout way, penetrate into the enemy's rear, cut off the enemy's rear route and block the reinforcements from the rear. Having dealt with our army a lot, the Vietnamese commander was a little clear about our army's combat path. They set up traps and ambush in advance in the places our army must pass. When our army arrived, they started a fierce attack.

Under the fierce attack of artillery fire, the officers and soldiers of the 1st Battalion suffered heavy casualties, and the company commander, deputy company commander and others died one after another. In order to avoid the entire army being wiped out, Wang Bin ordered everyone to disperse their own actions to break through, and one can survive, but Wang Bin was injured and captured during the breakthrough.
The Vietnamese army determined his identity and position through Wang Bin's military uniform and the documents he carried with him. It was precisely because of Wang Bin's identity that the Vietnamese side gave him "special" treatment.
Since the war between China and Vietnam started, the Vietnamese army has relied on its support of Soviet weapons and has not taken our army seriously at all. However, our army was not vegetarian at this time. At that time, our army's equipment had already "bird guns and cannons" and its combat power value increased several times. Although there are failures in small battles, the battle is never vague. In those years, the Vietnamese army suffered a lot of losses. After Wang Bin was captured, the Vietnamese army felt that they could obtain our army's military deployment and other information by "plitting" Wang Bin's mouth.

Wang Bin was thrown into the prison of prisoners of war by the Vietnamese army. After coming to the prison, he was handcuffed and shackled. The Vietnamese side also sent several people to take turns to watch him outside his cell 24 hours a day. For this reason, he had thought of committing suicide and making a clear decision by . However, in order to prevent him from committing suicide, the cunning Vietnamese army had already taken away potentially dangerous things in the prison, and their hands and feet were controlled. There was no other way but to hit the wall. He had tried to hit the wall while the guard was unprepared. However, before he could stand up, the movement of the shackles alarmed the guard.
A few days later, Wang Bin was taken to the interrogation room. The Yue army first persuaded him kindly, promising to threaten Wang Bin with a high official and generous salary, but Wang Bin immediately refused. He told the Yue army: " As a Chinese soldier, our dictionary only has the word "death in the battlefield, and there is no surrender! If you want to get the information of our army, you will die! "

The Yue army was angry with Wang Bin's words. Seeing that it was so soft, they began to torture Wang Bin. From whip dipped in salt water to whip, to tiger bench , chili water, to sitting on electric chair , the torture equipment that can be seen in the interrogation room has greeted Wang Bin. Wang Bin gritted his teeth and said nothing even when he died. In order to prevent Wang Bin from committing suicide by biting his tongue during the execution, the Vietnamese army would block his mouth with something every time.
Every time he came out of the interrogation room, Wang Bin seemed to have lost half his life, and no piece of skin on his body was intact. His front foot was thrown back to the prison, and the Vietnamese military doctor followed him in. They were afraid that Wang Bin would die due to complications caused by wound infection, so that they would be even less able to obtain information. They wanted Wang Bin to live. Therefore, basically, every time he was executed before and treated afterwards, when Wang Bin's injury healed, he was mentioned to the interrogation room for "greeting".

In this case, Wang Bin had also tried to commit suicide on hunger strike, and was soon discovered by the Vietnamese army. They first beat Wang Bin, and then forcibly poured food into Wang Bin's esophagus. Wang Bin would always induce vomiting after they left. After the Vietnamese army discovered it, they beat him again. Later, the Vietnamese army began to give him nutritional injections from time to time. Even if he went on a hunger strike, he would not die with the nutritional injections. Here, Wang Bin had seen the ruthlessness of the Vietnamese army.
New China also came from the war years. After so many years of the War of Resistance Against Japan, our army has always adopted preferential policies for treating prisoners of war, and has never been as tragic as the Vietnamese army. Wang Bin never dreamed that one day he would encounter these things.
Every day in prison is a torment for Wang Bin, but no matter how cruel the enemy is to him, Wang Bin never thought of being a traitor. He would rather die than keep his innocence and be worthy of the party's education for many years.

After nearly 6 years of such inhuman treatment, Wang Bin finally ushered in the dawn. In early 1990, the Vietnamese side finally couldn't stand it anymore. Years of war were too severe, the domestic economy had been dragged down, the people's opposition became louder, and international public opinion and pressure were getting bigger and bigger. The Vietnamese side began to seek peace. In order to show sincerity, the Vietnamese side took the initiative to exchange prisoners of war, and our side happily agreed.
htmlOn January 19, China and Vietnam officially exchanged prisoners of war at the border, and Wang Bin and four other soldiers finally returned to China. Their five were treated inhumanely in Vietnam prisons. As the only officer of the five, Wang Bin suffered the most abuse. When his former comrades saw him again, they could hardly recognize him. The once strong man is now so thin that he has lost his appearance. The above formula is only 37 kilograms...
