During the War of Resistance Against Japan , many heroic figures emerged in our country. In addition to the army that resisted the Japanese attack on the front battlefield, there were also many admirable underground workers active in the battlefield behind enemy lines. In order to obtain intelligence, they have various identities, and sometimes they are even misunderstood by their families and neighbors just to invade the enemy. There is such an underground worker in Hubei who acts as a traitor in order to complete the tasks assigned by the organization. The old mother thought he betrayed the country and surrendered to the enemy, so she committed suicide in shame, but he was buried in the martyrs' cemetery 61 years after his death. This person is Huang Biao, a revolutionary martyr.
Huang Biao Early revolutionary career
Huang Biao was born in 1895 in Zhangjiatai Village, Fengkou Town, Mianyang County, Hubei Province. Because of his poor family, he started going out to beg for food at the age of 11. By chance, Huang Biao met an old Taoist priest and learned a lot from the old Taoist priest. In 1925, he led nearly a hundred local villagers to launch a massive Dongting Lake peasant uprising. After the failure of the uprising, he continued to lead the team to participate in the revolution.
Due to some changes in the middle, Huang Biao took people away. Later, under the recommendation of the gentry Yuan Changfa of Honghu , Huang Biao joined the " Hongbang ". In the subsequent actions, Huang Biao was taken aback by the village leader for sacrificing his life to save the daughter of the Jinhua village leader. Two years later, Huang Biao became the leader of Jinhua Village and was well-known in the world. Because Huang Biao came from a poor family, he knew the difficulties of ordinary people. He set rules for his brothers in the village that he could only kill the rich and help the poor, and was not allowed to bully the poor. Therefore, Jinhua Village has also received support from the people in the local area.
In the spring of 1935, Huang Biao resumed contact with the organization, and at the suggestion of Ge Pinshan of the Tianhan Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China, he bought the Xinxiang Teahouse as the eldest brother of Jianghu to use it as our party’s secret contact point and raise funds for our party. After the outbreak of Lugou Bridge Incident, Huang Biao continued to use Xinxiang Teahouse as a cover to convey information to the organization. Because he has a great reputation in the local area, the Japanese army began to win over Huang Biao after invading Mianyang , hoping that he could do things for the Japanese.
If he followed his elder brother's style, he would definitely refuse. But he was also a member of the organization and had to handle this matter carefully. Faced with the Japanese army's enlistment, he neither accepted nor refused, but reported to the upper hand. The Tianhan Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China attaches great importance to this matter and personally went to Huang Biao's house to do ideological work. One day in 1940, a monk led four people to Huang Biao's teahouse. Huang Biao was overjoyed after seeing it.
Undercover Career
It turns out that this monk was Ge Pinshan of the Tianhan Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China. The four people he brought were: Guo Dachun, Secretary of the Tianhan Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China, Political Commissar of the Han Mian Command Li Lintian , Enemy Works Minister Tan Fuping, and Minister of Concubine Movement Chen Xiushan. Several comrades expressed their intention to Huang Biao, hoping that he could invade the enemy and obtain more valuable information for the organization. When Huang Biao heard that he wanted to be a traitor, he became anxious on the spot: "I will be a traitor. Eight generations of ancestors can't spare me!"
Several comrades showed Huang Biao the importance of this matter again, hoping that he could let go of his psychological burden. In the end, Huang Biao agreed to be a "traitor". When I heard that Huang Biao became a traitor, the local people were extremely disappointed with him, and some even scolded him in person. Huang Biao's mother was also very patriotic. When she learned that her son had become a traitor, she expelled him from the house with heartache. Two of Huang Biao's three sons were adopted by her mother to other brothers.
The mother misunderstood, the neighbors scolded her, and the wife did not understand, Huang Biao had to grit her teeth and swallow the pain. The good thing is that he gained the trust of the enemy in a short period of time and was appointed as the captain of the clearance brigade. He used this identity to rescue innocent people and his own people as much as possible. Once, another real traitor arrested more than 30 young women from the village in order to please the Japanese army. Huang Biao used his identity to rescue these women.
The things Huang Biao did also aroused the suspicion of the Japanese army. When he was promoted to the commander of the Self-Police Corps, the Japanese army tied up a New Fourth Army soldier who was beaten to death at his celebration banquet and asked Huang Biao to execute himself to show his loyalty.When Huang Biao saw that this person was his former comrade Yu Qing. Besides, even if he was not aware of other soldiers, Huang Biao could not point the butcher's knife at his own people.
So he pretended to be angry and asked the adjutant to take Yu Qing down, indicating that he would deal with it the next day. The next day, Huang Biao really executed a bloody man wearing New Fourth Army uniform. In fact, this person was a bandit found by Huang Biao from the death row. He was arrested for his crimes and was disregarded for his life. Huang Biao sent Li Daitaozao and replaced Yu Qing with him. Huang Biao deliberately beat the man to a bloody and fuzzy face and executed him in front of the Japanese.
After this incident, the Japanese indeed regained their trust in Huang Biao. Afterwards, Huang Biao used his power to gain profits and secretly used the money to support the New Fourth Army. In an interview with the TV crew of "Return to Honghu" in 1978, Li Xiannian said: "During the Anti-Japanese War, a special party organization in Honghu handed over 200,000 silver dollars per month, and 70% came from Neijing River. Controlling Neijing River can solve the support of the 5th Division, which is an amazing contribution." But he did not indicate at that time that this special party organization was led by Huang Biao.
Huang Biao's manifestation is a genuine "traitor" behavior in the eyes of ordinary people, and Huang Biao's mother also hanged herself. Huang Biao's wife and children were asked by his father-in-law not to meet Huang Biao. It was not until the Japanese army surrendered in 1945 that Huang Biao led more than 600 men and 20 boats to the Xiangnan Military Sub-district garrison and returned to the embrace of the organization that honor was restored. Afterwards, Huang Biao was appointed as the deputy commander (deputy division level) of the Han Mian Command of Xiangnan Military Sub-district.
Rehabilitation
Later, Jiang Jun encircled and suppressed our new fifth division. Huang Biao was seriously injured during the battle and was left in the local area. Two guards who were responsible for taking care of him also defected with the money, so Huang Biao had to beg for alms in Yiyang, Hunan and other places while waiting for the troops to return. After Hubei was liberated, Huang Biao's previous troops were not known where they were transferred. He had no choice but to go to the Intelligence Station of the Political Security Department of the Wuhan Public Security Bureau to serve as the stationmaster under the introduction of a comrade in Wuhan.
Because Huang Biao has lost contact with the party organization for nearly 4 years, the party membership has not recovered. He relied on his own ability to crack two spy cases and was commended and trusted by his superiors. But in 1951, Huang Biao was suddenly taken back by Mianyang County public security personnel. It turned out that in response to the call to suppress the counter-revolution, the local county government decided to rectify the leading figures of the old regime. Huang Biao's identity was not disclosed by the organization, so he was regarded as a counter-revolutionary.
Fortunately, the then director of the Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau Zhu Dixin reported to the Hubei Provincial Public Security Department. Director Chen Yixin immediately rescued Huang Biao from the gun on the grounds that "Huang Biao needs assistance in handling the case." Even so, Huang Biao was sentenced to 10 years in prison for "betrayal of the revolution and acting as a traitor" and died of illness in 1953. In 1979, the Hubei Higher People's Court revoked the original verdict and declared Huang Biao not guilty. The following year, the Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau rehabilitated Huang Biao. In 2014, this generation of spies who made silent efforts were buried in the revolutionary martyrs' cemetery of Hunan and Western Hubei Soviet Area.
