Space Force is launching its first graduate school program, unlike other services, it works with a private university rather than starting from scratch.

In 2023, selected space force officials, civilians and other military personnel will join the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC to pursue a master's degree in International Public Policy.

Johns Hopkins SAIS Dean James B. Steinberg (James B. Steinberg) said in a November 1 press release: "We are delighted to be selected by the U.S. Space Force and take this opportunity, and we look forward to this partnership. Participants in this project will be an indispensable member of our school, working closely with our outstanding teachers and students, and contributing to our intellectual community."

Historically, starting from the founding of the U.S. Naval War Academy in 1884, these branches have provided university education courses for senior military officers and civilians in the military camp schools. But the Space Force announced a partnership with Johns Hopkins to run its project with a private university, marking a departure from that tradition.

Space Training and Preparation Command Secretary Major General Sean Bratton said in a press release that the Guardians will have the opportunity to participate in science, technology, engineering and mathematics electives; expand laboratory research; and more opportunities to work with the commercial space sector in the region.

Space Force course will be held at the Johns Hopkins new campus, 555 Pennsylvania Avenue, formerly the News Museum building in the heart of Washington, D.C. According to a press release, the service agency hopes to open an academic program in the capital so that students and their families can “reduce (permanent station change) moves, increase family stability, improve quality of life, and provide a seamless transition for follow-up tasks.”

The Space Force is currently working to transition some of the Air Force University faculty at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama to a new program at Johns Hopkins University in 2023.

“To develop superior space capabilities and provide combat solutions, we must consciously cultivate our guardians so that they can think, act and engage in strategic struggles to understand how they can adapt to the larger ecosystem of the space community,” said Katherine Kelly, deputy director of Space Operations at Human Capital, in a press release.

When the Space Force was founded in 2019, unlike other branches, the budget and plan did not include creating its own military academy or war academy. Certificates at the Colorado U.S. Air Force Academy can learn about the Space Force when they join and then be appointed officers in the new service department after graduation, just like those who study at U.S. Naval Academy to become Marines .

Earlier this year, US Air Force Academy announced that it had the first permanent professor of the space force member. The trainees are increasingly interested in the new service sector.

In 2020, 9% of students — 88 students — were appointed to the Space Force after graduation.

The second year, the Air Force Academy opened its first space force detachment at the school, allowing cadets to contact the active guards to learn more about the service.

2021, the proportion of officers who become officers of the aerospace force after graduation has increased to 11%, that is, 115 students. The class in 2022 graduated about 10%, about 100 cadets entered the Space Force.
