According to CCTV Military Channel, in the early morning of this year, the North Korean People's Army troops opened fire continuously at the disputed waters and military buffer zones of North Korea and South Korea in the Yellow Sea. It is said that the North Korean artillery fired about 130 shells at around 1:20 a.m. and 40 more shells were fired at around 2:57 a.m. South Korea claimed that the North Korean People's Army's use of artillery units violated the agreement signed by North Korea and South Korea to demote military operations in the buffer zone in 2018. The North Korean People's Army immediately responded that due to the provocative behavior of South Korean Army using artillery units to shoot live ammunition in the military buffer zone, the 5th Corps of the North Korean People's Army was forced to use troops to respond.
At present, after a long period of easing, the relationship between North Korea and South Korea has shown a trend of tension. Especially recently, South Korea has made frequent moves, repeatedly demanding to strengthen military cooperation with the United States, including adding the so-called "beheading the supreme leader of North Korea" exercises in South Korea-US joint military exercises, and further practicalizing the THAAD (THAAD) anti-missile interception system. Now it is rumored that South Korea wants to let the US military re-deploy tactical nuclear weapon to the Korean Peninsula. All of this, especially the exercise subjects of "beheading North Korea's supreme leader", undoubtedly deeply stimulated and even angered North Korea.
For this reason, North Korea has adopted a tough response strategy in recent strategic threats to the United States and South Korea without hesitation, such as continuous test-firing of medium- and short-range ballistic missiles, testing medium- and long-range cruise missiles, dispatching the North Korean People's Army Air Force Aviation Force to carry out large-scale military exercises on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party. The US and South Korean armies were obviously not to be outdone. In response to North Korea's launch of missiles, the US and South Korean coalition immediately responded by launching ATACMS or "Xuanwu-2" missiles, and in response to North Korea's large air force aircraft fleet, while the South Korean Air Force used the "double aircraft fleet" in response. The relationship between the two sides is generally tense. Since this is the case, it is not difficult to understand that the South Korean army opened fire near the military buffer zone, and the Korean People's Army responded quickly and fired the same artillery.
Judging from the current struggle between North Korea and South Korea, the struggle between the two sides is basically still at the level of boxing in the air, and each competes against their own air. At the moment, there should be no possibility of competing against the air to practicing with one punch and one kick. But essentially, North Korea is now branching out in East Asia, which is conducive to Russia's layout in Eastern Europe. After all, the United States' power is relatively limited after all, and part of its power will not be invested in Eastern Europe if it is invested around North Korea. Once the domestic situation in South Korea is tense, its domestic ammunition production capacity will be given priority to supply the South Korean army. This is not good news for the Ukrainian army, which is currently short of 155mm ammunition and is shooting 155mm howitzer shells all over the world.
From another perspective, as the government of Yoon Seok-yeol reversed its pro-US policy route, the instability factors on the Korean Peninsula have indeed risen. This unstable factor combined with the increasingly anxious United States, it is not ruled out that a mutated chemical reaction will occur. Therefore, from this perspective, further strengthening the combat strength of the Korean People's Army and assisting the Korean People's Army in achieving the modernization of military equipment as soon as possible should be an issue that relevant countries need to pay attention to in this troubled era.
