When Ma Jiyuan was 28 years old, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general. This is an honor that many people will never get in their lifetime. He was also forced to flee the mainland and retreated to Taiwan in defeat. After Ma Jiyuan came to Taiwan, he also married Soong Meiling 's goddaughter.
