At the same time, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said that the rapid reaction force will be increased from the original 40,000 to more than 300,000, more than 7 times the current scale. The intention to target Russia is very obvious.
Compared with the total military strength of NATO, the previous 40,000 troops were a drop in the bucket and not worth mentioning. If it is increased to 300,000, it is possible to increase the attack power at one or more key points. In addition, this force has been adjusted from its original rapid response attribute to one that requires both rapid response and heavy blows, and can form an attack mode in which multiple arms cooperate and multiple theaters advance together. In the past, this force was relatively dispersed, with its headquarters in and in the Netherlands, and each was managed by its own company. Now it will be deployed intensively in Poland and Baltic Sea countries, so the combat threat will increase significantly.
It can be said that the direct impact of an additional 300,000 troops on Russia will be very obvious. Because in the past, Russia faced NATO's conventional forces, and the quick reaction forces were on the second line, and their number was not large. Once the number of troops increased to 300,000, and most of the elite troops and weapons were deployed in Eastern Europe and the three Baltic countries, this would put more pressure on defense. Therefore, in the face of multi-front operations, Russia can only deploy Iskander missiles in border areas, and at the same time be ready to use nuclear weapons at any time.
