According to a new study by employment website Indeed, Ireland is a country with a positive attitude towards foreign talents to the economy.

Indeed evaluated eight European countries and found that people were very satisfied with the skills and economic contributions of Irish immigrant talents, with 86% of respondents saying they like to work with colleagues from other countries. This is relatively high among the countries surveyed, followed by the United Kingdom (77%) and Switzerland (75%).

81% of Irish people believe that cultural diversity is conducive to the growth of enterprises, compared with that, only 67% of French and 71% of Germans think so.

This survey analyzed the attitudes and opinions of Irish employers and employees, and the results showed that the diversity of the labor force has brought many benefits to people. In Ireland, 78% of respondents believe that taxes paid by foreigners help keep public services running. Ireland is once again the most active country, followed by the United Kingdom (70%) and Switzerland (69%).

When it comes to Ireland's education system, 78% of Irish respondents agreed that expats contribute skills that our education system cannot meet, and 71% said that expats bring additional skills to the workforce.

From the employer's perspective, 78% of Irish businesses said they have hired expats in the past 5 years and 80% plan to recruit expats for their business in Ireland in 2022.

Although employers have many benefits to drawing talents from the global talent pool, they also face challenges when looking for them. In Ireland, 84% of businesses believe it is important to our economy to attract highly skilled people from other countries. Many businesses are already taking measures to hire foreign employees, including publishing job advertisements abroad (29%); hiring foreign recruitment agencies (22%); and providing support for settlement in Ireland, including housing, child care and visa support (18%).

As employers invest a lot of time and resources in overseas recruitment to fill the labor shortage, 8% of businesses said the government should make it easier for foreign citizens to come to Ireland.

Ireland Mainstream media The Irish Times once made an issue of the report entitled "Why should we encourage immigrants to come to Ireland". The article said that in 1851, the population of 26 counties in Ireland was less than a quarter of that of the United Kingdom. If Ireland's population growth rate has been the same as the UK since then, Ireland's population should now exceed 15 million. But in fact, Ireland's current population is only one-third of that number. Even if Ireland doubles its population to nearly 10 million, its population density is still much smaller than that of European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany or the Netherlands. It is not difficult to see that the labor shortage in Ireland is one of the important reasons for Ireland to expand its opening up and encourage immigration.
