CECh
Canadian Experience Class
Foreign technicians and international students in Canada may obtain permanent residence through Canadian Experience Class Immigration (CEC) .
Starting in 2008, the program provides foreign technicians and international students who graduate from Canadian institutions with the opportunity to become permanent residents and eventually become citizens.
.
To obtain CEC qualification, you must meet the following three categories of standards:
meets the language requirements required for each language ability in your work; writing, reading, listening and speaking. Language tests are valid for up to two years after applying for CEC and must be guaranteed to be valid on the day of submission.
has accumulated at least one year of work experience in Canada within three years before the application. This requirement can be met by: Full-time work: 30 hours per week for 12 months (1,560 working hours); or part-time work for the same time (the total work hours for more than 30 hours per week is equivalent to 1,560 working hours).
Get work experience through working in Canada during the period of temporary resident status on a work visa.
Please note that the National Occupational Category (NOC) requires a specific classification of jobs to be qualified for CEC. The NOC system is the way government classifies work based on job responsibilities and what a person does. A person needs to have a job in NOC 0, A or B to be eligible for CEC.
International students who graduate from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada can work for one year after obtaining a graduation work visa (PGWP). This is also a way to improve your ranking in the Express Entry pool.
Foreign students can complete the Education Certificate Assessment (ECA) from designated institutions for immigration purposes to determine that their previous education in a non-Canadian country is equivalent to a certificate, degree or diploma in a Canadian secondary or college.
.
Who does not meet the CEC qualification?
Volunteers, unpaid interns and self-employed personnel are not eligible for this program. The working hours obtained as a full-time student also do not meet the criteria (even if these are working hours for internships).
In addition, if the working hours per week do not exceed 30 hours, this means that work experience does not accumulate to 1560 hours in 52 weeks.
Also, you cannot plan to live in Quebec . The province has its own immigration system, and they select skilled workers based on the Quebec Common Skilled Workers Program (QSWP) and the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ).
Finally, you must pass a medical and security permit to prove that you can enter Canada. Candidates with criminal records may not be allowed to immigrate to Canada, but there are some exceptions.
