United Nations Secretary-General Spokesperson Dujarric said at a regular press conference on the 28th that the United States and Mexican authorities must launch an investigation into the deaths of immigrants in Texas, the United States. Investigate and bring to justice all those responsible.
Dujarric said that this incident once again demonstrated the need to formulate a comprehensive strategy to ensure the safe, orderly and regular migration activities in the region.
He also called on all parties concerned to strengthen cooperation in compliance with the global compact on migration and refugees and take concrete actions to prevent such unnecessary deaths.
U.S. law enforcement officers found the remains of 46 immigrants in a large truck in San Antonio, Texas, on the 27th. Another four people died after being sent to the hospital, bringing the death toll in this incident to 50. It is one of the deadliest immigrant deaths in the United States in recent years.
